Are you denying sony fanboys bragged about ps2 sales? then stopped with ps3 horrible beginning? and then started bragging again recently?

LOL, I can see we are done here. that wasn't what you said at all. Bragging is different than saying 'sales don't matter"

It won't outsell both and it won't be the 1st most sold console. The console with the best hardware never wins, I guess after 8 generations of gaming consoles people would already know that.

Your saying the best hardware never wins like it's a universal law. Your forgetting that it's Sony we are taking about. They have been dominating the console market for 2 decades lol. Sure they made some mistakes this gen which MS could capitalize on. Great for MS, but there is a reason why Sony has always been on top and managed to survive the current gen when everything was against them. Next gen they aren't going to make the same mistakes. They got the 3rd party support, the best exclusives, the best hardware and no doubt a kickass online service that will be at least as good as what MS will come up with.

For a game company that has been "dominating" the last 2 decades, you'd think they wouldn't have taken so many losses, i mean, at the very least you'd think they would have made at least a little more money than their direct competitor(Nintendo), but no.  In fact sony only made more money in 2 of those years, that's weird, cus you just said they had been dominating, I guess I misread what you said.

People always need to bring money and profits into the equation as some kind of defence mechanisme. Fact is ever since Sony entered the console market they crushed the competition for a reason. This gen they definetly messed up though, mostly because of arrogance and a clumsy architecture that allowed the competition to have the better looking multiplatform games, a better online service and a pricepoint that was almost half of Sony's console for a long time.

Sony won't make the same mistake twice though and this it seems like MS is getting cocky: forcing Kinect, always online, subscription fees etc. At the same time Nintendo is already out of the race before it even started if you ask me. It's selling like 30k units a week now, let alone when the real next gen consoles/ game engines hit the market. LEts be optimistic and say Wii-U sales remain as they are, then we are looking at around 8m units sold over a period of 6 years...

So much wrong in your statement, I don't know where to begin.

The Wii-U isn't being outsold 4:1 by a current gen console? And people aren't pissed because of all the next gen Xbox rumours?

Off course nobody knows what will happen, but since we are speculating, Sony seems in a pretty good place at the moment. People also seem to forget that it's very rare for 2 consoles in a generation to sell such equal numbers. I honestly don't think MS can pull that off a second time under different conditions (no year headstart, no superior looking multiplatform games, not alone with teamspeak, no price advantage etc.) MS really needs exclusive AAA IP's now and they didn't really succeed in building those with the 360.

LOLOLOLOL, so now you think the xbox rumors are just rumors instead of fact?  lol stop changing your mind.

Like I said if the rumours are true, then we are looking at a very dominant position for Sony, maybe 80%. If MS can blow everyone away at E3 with new exclusive Ip's, good hardware and "the always online" being not true then it will be more even though. Keep in mind that I look at this whole console war through the eyes of a gamer. For me the most dominant console is the one that most people will play, not the one that makes the most money.

sony fanboys kept saying exactly that on ps3 terrible beggining, but during ps2 and recent ps3 years it was all about sales mattering.

Ok, I'll stop trolling because you are making some good points, my initial statement was in reference to what you initially said, everything since then has been very reasonable.  The biggest thing that caught my attention initially was that you said "optimistically" the wiiU would be able to continue to sell 30k units a week for the next few years, that's a joke considering they have no high quality titles out yet, and when they do have high quality titles out those numbers will likely go to 100k+ per week(on average) for many years.  Will the wiiU outsell the ps4, well that depends on what sony and Nintendo do over the next few years, but I think the wiiU has a decent shot.

But everything else you said is right, MS could easily blow it with these rumors, idk if Sony will get 80% marketshare though, Maybe 45% Sony, 35% Nintendo and 20% Xbox, but it's impossible to say at this point, I could easily see Nintendo taking 45% of the market share instead of Sony, if they do something similar as they did with the 3ds, do a huge price cut, do another ambassador program and then launch a bunch of high quality titles around the same time as the ps4 and 720 launch.

Something...Something...Games...Something

This thread gonna be amazing in 6 years :D

The chances of this generation shrinking or higher than it growing - with a smaller generation and less casuals.
So far, the only company that has something casuals might find interesting is the Wii U (tablet like controllers and Wii games line-up). If all MS does is Kinect 2, i don`t see it grabbing non-gamers, casuals and kids attention.
Some developers already expressed their desire for the new generation to not be as long as the old one.

If Wii U gets decent 3rd party support and PS4 and X720`s library is basically the same, i don`t see a a big reason to the number of multiple console owners be as big as this past gen.

All I know is that the Wii-U isn't catching on like the Wii did. Sure there is a loyal fanbase who might be waiting for Zelda but who knows how long that will take? Miyamota allready said that it's going to take a while and when the next gen hits, the core gamers might not even care anymore.

The biggest problem with the Wii-U is that it's focussing more on the core market again, who care a lot more about big profile 3rd party games like COD. This will be a problem when those next gen games (most of them probably running on the Unreal 4 engine) can't be ported to the Wii-U. They might still have a shot though, but only if they focus purely on the casual market and do a serious price drop.

Personally I don't see the Wii-U really competing in the next gen market, but more with the ps3 and the $100 Xbox lite that is also coming out. Big profile core games like: GTA, COD, MGS, etc. will probably have a 5% marketshare on the Wii-U, if they even come out at all.

you overestimate the use of Unreal Engine 4 and even if it was really used, the games are totaly portable to wii u. erase that hater thought that wii u can't get multiplats along ps4/nextbox. and stop acting as if success is a given for sony, look at what happened to the ps3. both sony and microsoft will have to swet to get custumers, with an oponnent that's cheaper and has the multiplats as well as more and better exclusives.

I bet someone will claim the multiplats aren't a given for nintendo. well, it's not a given for the others either. the games will probably be cross gen at first wich means only exclusives will be a reason to buy ps4/nextbox. if they don't build a significant install base the thirds will rethink the support, nintendo isn't the only one that has to worry.
