I'm going with
PS4: 42%
Xbox Infinity:38%
Wii U-20%

I'm not really sure what your point is with that tbh. What does the percentage of the original price of the platform have to do with anything? PS3 may not get to $99 anytime soon like PS2 did (or maybe ever) but $200 is still viewed as a big hurdle to get under and with the cheaper model and the components coming down for a year and a half already since the last price cut I can see PS3 still getting to $200 this year. Maybe it'll be $150 by 2015 and get another small boost. It's taken a lot longer to get down to that point due to the system being more expensive in the first place but it will still get there eventually I think. |
It has to do with the cost to manufacture, since the ps2 cost roughly half as much as the ps3, you likely won't see the ps3 ever sell for less than 200. But who knows, everything will change once the ps4 comes down, and I think next year will be a good indication as to whether the ps3 will outsell the wii. Well, technically the ps3 hasn't outsold the 360 yet(at least on vgchartz), so i guess we should be focusing on that first.

So much wrong in your statement, I don't know where to begin. |
The Wii-U isn't being outsold 4:1 by a current gen console? And people aren't pissed because of all the next gen Xbox rumours?
Off course nobody knows what will happen, but since we are speculating, Sony seems in a pretty good place at the moment. People also seem to forget that it's very rare for 2 consoles in a generation to sell such equal numbers. I honestly don't think MS can pull that off a second time under different conditions (no year headstart, no superior looking multiplatform games, not alone with teamspeak, no price advantage etc.) MS really needs exclusive AAA IP's now and they didn't really succeed in building those with the 360.

sony fanboys during ps2: sales matter
sony fanboys during ps3 pre 2010: sales doesn't matter
sony fanboys during ps3 recently: sales matter again because ps3 is finaly selling better
that's how it was/is.

LOLOLOLOL, so now you think the xbox rumors are just rumors instead of fact? lol stop changing your mind.

The PS4 seems to be doing just about everything right from a gamer's perspective, but that alone doesn't guarantee market success.
I imagine that if Microsoft matches the PS4 in features/tech with the 720, it will be the best selling system in NA for the 8th gen. The 360 has built up a brand name in that region that will be really tough to beat. Meanwhile, Nintendo has squandered their lead with the Wii U and hasn't been making much effort to recover. While Nintendo will inevitably increase sales with a price drop and their usual lineup (3D Mario, Smash Bros., Zelda, sequels to Wii titles), they likely won't have substantial 3rd party support and I doubt they'll be able to pull anywhere near the same casual audience they got early on with the Wii.
While consoles can reverse their fortunes later on in the generation, it's rare for a system with anemic initial sales to be on top by the end of the generation. However, the PS3 might be able to pull it off, so you never know. If I had to predict the standings by the end of the 8th gen, it would be:
NA region:
1. Xbox 720
2. PS4
3. Wii U
Japan:
1. PS4
2. Wii U
3. Xbox 720
EU:
1. PS4
2. Xbox 720
3. Wii U
But frankly, anything can chance. We don't know enough about either the PS4 or the 720 to make any declarative judgments.

Yes sales do matter here, so let me repeat this post for you & would love to hear what you think-
Ok, let's start over & maybe you can follow me this time. Sony is in awful shape as a company, they've literally had to sell their NY & Tokyo headquarters to stay afloat. They simply CANNOT afford to sell the ps4 at a loss. Yet they also CANNOT sell the ps4 for a very high price point (just look at the ps3 launch or vita as examples of high price point = low sales). Sony has stated they will have 8gb DDR5 RAM in the ps4, which will be expensive (no matter how great you think Sony engineering is). Therefore, i'm failing to understand how Sony will successfully launch a powerful system, that will be priced reasonably for a mass market (in a declining economy)? How does that somehow work out for them? Either they take a massive loss on hardware sales (& literally risk going out of business because of it), or ps4 will be very expensive, which i believe will lead to very low sales. The reason i brought up Vita is- First, you claimed that Sony won't fail "marketshare wise", but if you look Vita IS failing quite badly actually. And Vita shows a strategy on the part of Sony to make a powerful, but expensive system, which seems likely to continue with the ps4. If Sony is following the same path with the ps4, then how will it work out differently than the Vita?
|
They won't be able to answer anything as your point with Vita cannot be denied. I just can't see how Sony will do better with PS4 if they use the same strategy they used with the Vita.
meh, whats this about sony fans saying sales didnt matter until the ps3 gained? you mean like how sales mattered to xbox fans till the ps3 caught up then suddenly it was about revenue if the company instead? youre bloody hypocrits.
alao whats that about the 360 not birthing good IP's? sorry i was busy playing gears of war, and xbox only continuations of existing ips like forza and halo, people can moan all they want about the number of defining games the fact is they exist, to denie that is to be deluded.
frankly, the power difference doesnt matter, what matters is going to be the games, and to make damn sure i dont miss out on anything big, i'll be buying both systems at launch, alwaya online, no used games or not, because i'm a gamer, and games matter more to me than the name in the box that plays them.
Zero: sony fanboys during ps3 recently: sales matter again because ps3 is finaly selling better that's how it was/is. yes, you and all your 9 year old friends sat around in 2000 arguing about sales. Hell, you were 15 when this gen started. Every 9 to 15 year old is interested in compiling financial reports from the big 3 to sit around and analyze it with friends. Am i right? |
somethin happened as i was typing on my phone and what i said went into your quote. anway, what im saying is i highly doubt you know what you are talking about

I wasn't born when world war 2 happened, that doesn't stop me from knowing about it, does it? I don't recall saying I was checking video game sales and fanboy comments when I was nine, i can just get that information.
