Survive for a year or 2 off of 1st party titles, 3rd party exclusives and select multiplats and then release a successor on par with the competitors Iin 2017.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
well, everything i saw about ps4 were some tech demos and possibilities of whose “not everything will be available at release“ so i don't even know what ps4 can at release and what not of what they showed us on the reveal. not to talk about their ideas they didn't show us yet.
and nextbox? well, not sure how i should already have a clue about the possible success of a product when i only know few rumored specs. which partnerships will they have and with whom, how good wil be kinect? and so on...
even analysts wouldn't predict anything yet.

Same that happened to the Wii when 3rd parties switched from PS2 to PS360, very little.
Power? If that mattered, Wii would have flopped.
Stupid name? If that mattered, ipod and Wii would have flopped.
Name sounds too similar to predcessor? ipod touch/nano/shuffle, iphone 3g/4/4s/5/5s/6, PS2/3/4/Vita, xbox 360, windows xp/vista/7/8/me/etc should all have failed.
The only things that sell consoles are cost and games, all the other crap you are making up is unimportant.
The Wii U has by far the biggest announced lineup, will be the lowest cost, and can have a price cut whenever Nintendo need.
I do not understand how the prediction is made that the PS4 will dominate this generation when it has not even been released yet. Having higher specifications does not lead to a console selling more units--if that were the case both the Xbox and the Gamecube would have dominated the PS2. Let us look back to the beginning of the previous generation. The buzz about the PS3 was extraordinarily high, especially with the Cell processor and all that it was supposed to be able to do. None of that positive information led to an explosion of sales did it?
Basically you have no factual evidence to support your claim and yet you say the PS4 will comfortably outsell both the Wii U and the next Xbox.
The next ludicrous prediction was that the PS4 will sell upwards of 150 million units which makes absolutely no sense at all. The console has not even hit store shelves yet and you have no empirical evidence to support this number--it is one you pulled out of thin air. Just because the PS2 sold 150 million does not mean the PS4 will do so. PS2 increased its numbers over the PS, the PS3 however, will not keep that trend alive and I believe that was mainly due to the error in pricing. Now, I do believe that Sony has learned from this earlier blunder and the PS4 will trend slightly higher than the PS3, perhaps a range of 100-110 million sold.
The PS2 was not the best system and yet it still outsold its competition by a large margin. The Wii U is not selling well now, but then neither was the PS3 in its early days and now it is doing pretty well, so this too is no real indicator of success.
PS3 beats MS in Japan ,Europe
MS beats Sony in USA
Ninty beats Sony and MS in Japan
Ninty beats Sony maybe in the USA
Ninty or Sony will win this gen there is no way MS is going to do it no matter what the price of the console is...

As I said earlier in this thread Microsoft if they go with what help live in the begining by making deals with cable companies, makes a deal that puts the next Xbox in homes as their cable box, they could easily out sell both the PS4 and Wii U combined. But that it will have Zero to little impact on the games that sell for it, which in the end is what makes the console companies money. Microsoft could very well "win" this gen by selling the most units, one to be massively in the hole because their software sales didn't get a boost from their gamble.
The market leader the past 20 year in terms of console sales usually don't profit very much from being the "leader" in units sold. The orginal Playstation and PS2 beat their respective competitors but they didn't see massive profits because they had to advertise and advertise a lot back then because most people didn't use the internet to make their buying decisions. That is why during the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era, Nintendo's had more profits then Sony's game division to get and keep the lead they had to loose a massive amount of money. Nintendo with the Wii lucked out not only did it go viral, but the face of advertising started to change and lower cost alternatives were available. So in all but one year Nintendo made a rediculas amount of profit from the machine.
The PS3 may even reach 100 million console systems and continue the tradition of PS1/PS2 all sell over 100 million console systems. PS3 may eventually sell more systems than the Wii and win this console sales generation. PS3 is closing down the sales gap on the Wii down to 24 million and is now roughly equal to the XBox 360 in total sales.
The PS4 should sell at a faster pace than the PS3 because it is expected to be priced at an affordable $399 instead of the infamous PS3 $599 launch price. The PS4 should easily outsell the NextBox because Sony and Microsft will launch at the same time later in the year. Microsoft with Xbox 360 cheated Sony and PS3 by launching 12 months ahead. Really not fair XBox 360 cheated and those first year sales should not really be counted in the head to head battle PS3 versus XBox 360.

Wouldn't call it cheating since Sony beat the other 2 to the punch with PS2. Although Sony seemed to be able to keep up that lead a little more lol
