No I do not like the hero-infused shooting waves of enemies FPSs and the GTAs. I feel that they only devalue gaming in general and enforce the stereotype of gaming saturated by dudebro swagfags when that is obviously not the case. Gaming should not be reduced to such a level.

At the moment the only Western AAA title that I find enjoyable is the Halo series

What? The Halo series is exactly what you're talking about..

As to your point...yes, it's pretty exactly much what I said. You don't enjoy these games, so you don't want to see them successful. They don't 'devalue' the industry, they just take the industry in a direction you don't like, because you don't enjoy those games.

So you want to see games you don't like fail. That's it.  (apart from Halo I guess...weird to have such strong opinions on these games but then mention you do infact like one example of them).

Edit: You mention GTA specifically...don't you often talk about how much you enjoy Sleeping Dogs? One of the most derivative GTA inspired games out there? Sorry if I have you confused with someone else.

I am not said person.

Let me make that Halo example more specific, what I liked about the Halo series is Halo 1 for the epic scope of the sci-fi in a game which was unparalleled at the time and a evolution of mechanics. And it made sense because you shouldered the responsibilities of being the last of your kind. I liked the idea of "isolation" and during that 2nd mission having everyone else not survive the crash being the "last survivor" rather than "empowered lone badass hero" and besides it's fantasy. I much more prefer this to having CoD "squads" set in a "realistic enviornment" for the enjoyment of mowing down wave after wave of Taliban Forces. Halo 2 for the covenant missions which offered another view on the story and a duality in method presentation. (And when I found that Halo 3 didn't have said missions I didn't play it)

Halo 4 yes is derivative of all those things I hate because suddenly you have more spartans with you which rids you of that sense of "I'm the last of my kind" and suddenly the well characterized covenant in Halo 2 are reduced to weapon fodder again. There's more but I'm feeling a bit bummed.

I hate this "Merica! thing placed in every CoD and even AssCreed 3 purely to satisfy the urges of hate filled manchildren. Especially AssCreed 3 because they could have explored the exotic, mystical, and unknown natures of the Assassin like they did in other ones with the European setting and maybe place it with Tibetian Monks/Ninjas/Tribal Africa or something, places and people well known for things similar to the "Assassin's code" and that sense of mystical unknown nature and really explore it but NOOOOOO you have to set it in the "Merican revolutionary war, place not well known for Assassins and obviously a ploy to have it sell better in America. If there was an Assassin's Creed set in let's say Three Kingdoms China? I'd be all over that thing, but obviously the audience we're so intent on satisfying isn't.

Ok sorry, really thought it was you who I saw praising Sleepy Dogz

Thanks for the detailed explanation on why you dislike COD and Ass Creed 3.. and that's ok, everyone's taste is their own. I personally dislike a lot of the things you dislike too in games, I think. (Although if you want to talk about 'dudebro' culture..Halo really was a huge driver of that no matter the nuances to its plot, so I still find it strange you'd make an exception for it). But my previous reply as to your reasoning for wanting the Western AAA industry to fail, and the topic of this argument in the first place, is still valid.

Hope they find jobs elsewhere but glad EA is having trouble. The more for them the better for us.

Hearts go out to those who lost their jobs, but at the same time I'm kind of gleeful that Crash 2.0 is beginning.

I am conflicted.

I feel similar. Mostly I'm being a little selfish as those companies ignoring Nintendo hardware when it simply makes sense not to.

yeah seriously.  those extra 50k sales would have saved the industry..!

God I hate "mobile". I know all the kids these days love to play their games while they post their feelings on face space or whatever crap they are posting their whole lives on now, but I like my ass on a couch with a nice big screen in front of me.

Some people, oh some people.

Anyway, I'd like to think that EA laid off the people that were bringing their company down. However, that's probably not the truth. It's sad to think that the gaming industry could be going into another crash.

Maybe, just maybe, Otaku wasn't talking about those utter crap ports and maybe he was talking about some type of exclusive/on-time multi-plat. I don't completely know, though. He could've gone off the rocker there.

EA has been run so poorly for so long it was only a matter of time before this had to happen. I feel sorry for those who worked/work there.

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)
PC - Command & Conquer Remastered Collection (1995/1996/2020)

A lot of their games as of late have frankly seem some unfairly poor sales (Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 . I think people seeing the EA logo on the box art is putting off a lot of people.

While 50k is way to low... multiply that by the minimum of $25 they'll make per game sold and you have $1.2m. Then you think of all the games gimped or skipped that would have sold at least a few hundred 1,000 and well let's just say I proved me point.
