The most interesting part of the story is not the legalization, but the fact they did it inspite of majority of French stance on the matter.

Actually the majority supports the law.

I can't speak French but Google Translate seems to agree with what I just said: 53% support gay marriage.

I'll rephrase it to avoid confusion: majority are against adoption by gay couples -- people tend to distinguish these two things, but one implies another. It says that 56% are against adoption and rising since the start of the pro-gay marriage campaign.

I am against it for a couple of reasons.

1. It shouldn't be called "marriage", it should be called something else, like "registered partnership" like we have in Sweden. Let the term "marriage" be unique to heterosexual partnerships based on religious and traditional grounds and probably societal grounds (to strengthen the child-nurturing institution that's still important to our society and its stability).

2. It's a hypocritical act. Why only allow homosexual couples to marry but still discriminate other forms of partnerships such as polygamy, siblings wanting to marry a sibling and friends wanting a protected union with several friends?

1. Religion does not have a monopoly on the term marriage, it's simply a worldwide cultural ceremony that can include God, or not.

2. Agree - there should be no discrimination here. Polygamists/Hetero/Homo should all be encompassed in the legal definition for marriage. I'd even support siblings who want to marry even though I'm repulsed by that idea. It should read "...between two or more humans."

You're talking against facts here because you hope that to be the case, while we in fact don't know that to be the case.

I personally, partially based on my experience as a medical doctor and because there are studies that suggest it, believe that homosexuality largely is caused by dysfunctional hormonal regulation during embryonal development, which would be enough to meet the criteria for it to be classified as a "brain disorder" (that's how diagnostics work).

I do believe that some homosexuality is programmed and even selected for at the genetical level too, but we don't have clear evidence for that yet.

Note that I don't think this is dramatic in any way because "disorder" doesn't automatically mean something can be or should be "cured".

I'm not "talking against facts," I'm bringing them to the table. This is where scientists believe the fundamental control occurs.

Epigenetics and hormones go hand in hand and it is absolutely thought to be hormones sent as epigenetic signals during development that produces sexuality. Epigenetics aren't set in stone, they are environmentally impacted.

Classifying homosexuality as a brain disorder is absurd. Call it a recessive disposition, but disorder in this sense is a pejorative. Like I said, it's not thought of as different to left-handedness - and I think you'll fail to classify this as a disorder.

Furthermore, what the hell does "hope" have anything to do with anything? I'm not homosexual, so I've no vested interest in a scientific explanation. I'm bringing clarity to an outdated opinion that it's a brain disorder. It simply isn't; any other assertion is baseless and, quite frankly, ridiculous.

i personally dont beleive they should have the same marriage as straight couples, not for religious reasons just that it simply violates the laws of nature, if it were meant to be so then gay couples would be able to procreate A sexually wich they cannot, allowing them to have the same marriage type implies they are the same when they clearly are not and most aknowledge that fact but thats just my opinion,

Your opinion is wrong, and you should accept that your opinion is wrong. There is no opinion on the matter of whether or not it's natural to have sex with the same sex, if the person feels that natural need to fuck another girl if that person is a she, then it's nature.

sooooo a woman who can't have child should nt be able to mary in your opinion ?  the problem in this debate is opinion. you can't use opinion to defend the point of view.

you have to be litterally neutral to the fact.

too much big decision are debate on religious base or opinion, hiding the fact behind those.

in some state it was illegal for white and black people to mary each other till the early 80's, and do you think it was based on fact or opinion ?

your comment really is quite bizzare, so you are supreme ruler and decide who is right and wrong? you sound like a dicktator, being gay is fine if people want to do that it is there choice, but i will not lie and bend to peoples will just because its cool to be gay. it is not natural if all where to be so then u wouldnt be here nor i or anyone else, the laws of nature dictate that masculine and femine are required to procreate that is all,

Such a shame. All this does is encourage them.

What's worse is that so many people are approving of it. The worlds turning into such a mess.

none of my points are that of religion im not a christian, not sure why u bring that into it maybe you have a strong hatred of religion?
