Nope.

The 3DS isnt the issue, its the publisher/developer (Nintendo in other words) who is pretty much not focusing on the Wii-U (lack of announcements/discussions) along with the lack of third party support + the fierce competition in terms of software + bundles/deals.

the reasons the WiiU isnt selling are many. too much to even post now. but i believe that the 3DS is only making things worse. honestly its like a portable WiiU at the moment.

All it needs is Retro Studios (MK7 doesn't count.)

That's quite literally it.

Honestly that is like saying Soul Sacrifice or one monster hunter game is gonna save the Vita. Its gonna take more than one game to save the Wii-U from crashing and burning completely.

the good thing about Nintendo is, that they always deliver these special first party games.

That didnt save the Virtual Boy now did it? Or allow Nintendo to win against the competition who had the PS1 and PS2.

They'll need something to attract casuals like they did with the Wii, however - considering its casuals - the market is way different from what it was when the Wii came out. I dont think casuals will be much interested with the Wii-U as with the Wii. There's a few factors preventing another Wii type success from happening although it can still happen if they make the right decisions which all add up.

The main things that are preventing that from happening are

-The cost of the system is a bit too high for casuals compared to the Wii's original price (which was $249.99) and what it is now.
-Competitors re-focusing on the motion controls (i.e. PSMove (l0l) and Kinect).
-Competitors having cheaper systems which can run almost the same games (i.e. eliminating the need to buy multiplats on the Wii-U).
-Competitors having better bundles and a bigger variety of SKUs for the systems.
-Competitors having more fleshed out software library with both old software and new upcoming software.
-Smartphones and Tablets attracting casuals far more than actual video game systems.
-Nintendo's failure to focus on the Wii-U in its advertising and direct shows.

they kicked Yokoi (one of the most impoarten if not the most important man in the history of Nintendo) for it's failure.(kindy cruel to be honest, but that's buisness i guess.

And the Virtual Boy wasn't even meant to be a main system, it was meant to keep customers cause of ps 1 and saturn cause the n64 still needed more time. It was also uncomfortable, unpractical, you head/eyes did hurt after using it qutie a while. It was the consumer unfriendliest System Nintendo ever made and probably will made.

And the Virtual Boy also didn't have any must have nintendo first party title sorry. Also Virtual Boy didn't evenr each the on million mark.

@Bolded/Italic/Underline - Source please?

Also if they cared about their consumers so much, why did they release a system like this, allowing people who bought it to not have good game support and then deciding to completely shut down production thus screwing over all those who bought it.

According to Wikipedia (which is a source that isnt 100% true but still there with some facts) the VB sold about 770,000 units - with a price tag of $180 - which in turn was as expensive as the then developing Nintendo 64 which was priced at $199.99.

Also according to Wikipedia

"While Nintendo's Research & Development 3 division (R&D3) was focused on developing the Nintendo 64, the other two engineering units were free to experiment with new product ideas. The Virtual Boy was designed by Gunpei Yokoi, the general manager of Nintendo's R&D1, and the inventor of the Game & Watch and Game Boy handheld consoles. He saw the Virtual Boy as a unique technology that competitors would find difficult to emulate."

---

For a company that cares more about their consumers than money - they sure love to experiment on the same consumers eh?

Although I guess the firing of one of the employees is enough to make up for all those 700k+ units sold to consumers who were looking for further support right?

---

Anyways the point of this response is that you said that Nintendo always releases these "special first party titles" which isnt true because they havent always done it and you even said yourself @underlined....l0l.

L-O-L. Wow, one system from like 12 other Nintendo Systems without one First Party must have title. Yeah sure, this proved me totally wrong. Seriously though i never said they didn't make any failures, everyone does (Sony shitting on customers not so many years ago ;D ) but they really do care. They gave Europe 60 hz Virtual Console games after everyone telling them on Miiverse, their Customer Support is also top notch. They give us Wind Waker HD to shorten the wait (and give them obviously more time) for the real next big Zelda. You know customer care is one of the main things about making a company succesful. Every company does care for their customers in a way or another. Of course Iwata won't send me a letter with a Congratulation Card for my Birthday. What do YOU understand under caring for customers lol.

And I also never said they care more for their customers then for their money. They care for customers CAUSE they need the money from them....

I can appreciate some of what he's saying. 3DS is truly on fire and offers a fantastic growing library of quality first-party "Nintendo Experience" titles. That being said, I have to STRONGLY disagree with his sentiment that the 3DS is "near the same graphical fidelity as the Wii U." That's just silly. Right now, Wii U doesn't have a lot of games that show off what it's capable of. Sure there are some great third-party games with high-end graphics available, but there's just something DIFFERENT about how Nintendo's own first-party titles look when they're really trying to make them look good. The Wii was grossly underpowered and yet Super Mario Galaxy is still one of the best looking games of the past generation. When E3 rolls around and Nintendo shows off the next evolution (probably called Super Mario U-niverse) of Mario AND Mario Kart AND Smash Bros. AND shows off the Wind Waker in motion, plus whatever Retro Studios is working on, THEN we'll start to see what Wii U is REALLY capable of. Also, as fantastic as many of the 3DS games are, Nintendo follows a stringent policy of developing handheld games for "shorter periods of play" and that's clearly reflected in the game design of their handheld titles. For console games on the other hand, they're really able to go all out when it comes to game depth. I LOVE my 3DS to death, but you'll NEVER get a game on the same scale as "X" from Monolith Soft on it. Wii U will find its own place in the market and as ALWAYS, Nintendo's first-party content will sell the systems. I think we all need to wait until E3 and find out about Wii U's holiday line-up before we say it's doomed. There's too much sensationalism in today's gaming journalism.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

zippy and I are on the same page: portable gaming is downsized gaming. The Wii U needs games of its own.

3DS honestly isn't even selling that great in the West. It's doing OK.

DS used to do 400-600k in a month like March, 3DS can't even get to 250k even with Luigi's Mansion + Monster Hunter released in the same month.

What about Wii?
It has more Nintendo games and it's a lot cheaper.
