ill answer the poll once you are done making it. and yes i am smarter than the average joe. im also smarter than the average rocket scientist as well. yes i am that smart

Rocket Science is not hard. It's essentially the science of propulsion which is based on Newtons Third Law. I never understood why people always think Rocket Scientists are so bright.

its just a figure of speach

I know, but Rocket Science is one of the easiest fields to get a PhD in that involve Physics. I never understood that figure of speech.

Most work is done in Physical Chemistry now, constructing nanotube, graphite chips for computers, exciting electrons into conduction bands for solar cells. We should say "Smart then a Phys Chemist."

I guess that doesn't sound as good......well I got my degree in Astrophysics, so that sounds pretty smug LOL

How many times did you have to explain the differences between "Astronomy" and "Astrology" yet? :P

Actually I am just gonna come out and say that most of the incredibly stupid things I see are from ignorance.  Too many people on this site think they know computer tech when really, they need to spend a lot of time educating themselves before they say something silly like "RAM doesn't affect performance."

LOL, I don't think anyone said that in the other thread, but RAM doesn't play anywhere nearly as important of a factor as GPU/CPU performance.

Only once, I'm working to be a high school teacher, and when I did volunteer work I essentialy covered, and restructured the high school astronomy chapter (They don't cover Habitable Moons in our Solar system! Or Jupiters 4 big moons). I had to tell the teacher that I can't do the same for astrology because I don't know constellations, but he wasn't ignorant, he was just happy that I could cover astronomy so well.

I'm astonished. Our Astronomy teacher had to do it for at least 40% of the class in our first lesson and in many advisory discussions with parents (Astronomy was an optional course at my old school, so parents were invited to discuss the course with the teacher before enlisting their kids)^^

Yep - education states so, so does my job. Also considering how most people debate here, most haven't a clue on the basic scientific method which is alarming. As for the poll; D-K effect on a huge scale imo.

I'm sure we've had a thread before asking people to take an online IQ test and report their results.

If the test had any level of validity and people weren't simply lying through their teeth about the results, VGChartz has one of the smartest collection of people anywhere in the world, either physical or virtual.

It would be exceedingly interesting if that was in fact the case, but i have my doubts.....;)

So in answer to the question, if VGChartz user's average level of intelligence is comparable to the general public, yes. If it is actually as reported by VGChartz users, then maybe not and think tanks the world over should be patronising this site for the purposes of recruitment.

Yeah, it certainly feels that way. If it is true, I wonder what exactly about this site is special that draws in some really intelligent people. Is it really just the videogames+the numbers (you know, combination of videogame hobby and the sales numbers)?

Internet access, disposable income and the fact that it's still relatively small, I think.

(That is, people with those two things are more likely to be intelligent/educated).

(Former) Lead Moderator and (Eternal) VGC Detective

Mmmm...lot of geniuses on VGChartz.

I sure don't know what the sight you're talking about is but on this site... Well, I don't know if I'm smarter than most other people here but I'm definitely smarter than many users here, 'many' being quite vague.

And yeah, funny results. :D
