You seem to be among those who are confused about Nintendo's approach.  They didn't say they aren't going to be there, and aren't going to announce games.  Perhaps their content and new presentation style will blow people away.

Going from ditching a "large-scale presentation" to a "few smaller events" doesn't really suggest they are planning to blow anyone away.
