Forums - Nintendo - Guess Nintendo's version of first party releases includes VC content.

A few NDs ago, it was said that Wii U would get a first party title every month from March on.

Here we are in April and the only "first party" title that can be considered is next weeks release of several Virtual Console titles as Wii U's VC service kicks off. Additionally, there is nothing dated for May either.

We just had a ND that finally dated the launch window game Pikmin3 for August 4th in NA. It also dated Game&Wario for June 23rd. However, it didn't date the other two "Quarter 2" games Wii Fit U and much anticipated Wonderful 101.

I cannot believe all the talk about not allowing game droughts and all this from well before launch to have a first half of 2013 that is so dry of first party content.

Nintendo will be fine of course, even largely with their investors next week as there is a lot of great content for 3DS lined up combined with Wii U OS update and VC service launch. However, it needs new first party content and sadly we have only two new first party games for Wii U with actual dates so far (see above).

I'm disappointed in you Nintendo. Very disappointed.

You're not the only one. This is very poor form, and they'll deserve the awful WIi U sales that come of it.

I think they will go for the "re-launch" strategy after E3. A price cut, all the new announcements that they can make, new bundles, and some games that were supposed to release much sooner like the ones you mentioned (Pikmin, Wii Fit U, Game & Wario, Wonderful 101 with Zelda WW HD following shortly after)

Sucks for early adopters like us tho. They better give us some free VC games or something (and I'm not talking about one crappy game per month)

And at the same time the amount of first party content on the 3DS is through the roof

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

O, Nintendo :(

Why aren't you being yourself: awesome?

Yeah, as people have already mentioned, the things that are surprising are the 3DS content. Mario Golf & Mario Party would've done well as Wii-U titles. I mean, they'll be great as 3DS titles (Golf more than Party; I still don't see how a couch multi-player game fares on a handheld), but with the Wii-U the way it is... yeah.

And just Pikmin. I'm sure it'll turn out to be an absolutely top-tier title, but it was supposed to be on Wii; then it was supposed to be a launch window title; then Q2. They're not horrific delays, but they're certainly hurting the console.

Still, it is what it is. Vita's summer line-up this year, unfortunately, is LEGO games & indie titles. When your console is struggling, you take what you can get I suppose. I'd have thought the situation should've been different for Nintendo since with a bit of forward planning taking games from 3DS, they could've avoided this.

I sincerely believe that all these games right now are the result of development in 2011 going into overdrive in order to salvage from poor sales that took away from WiiU.

So now we've ended up with a polarized output. Can't really complain though, I have Bravely Default AND Earthbound.

I'll give Nintendo a 2nd chance...for now. But this is the last Nintendo console I buy at launch.

Well, at least we are getting the virtual console next week. And I'm a huge fan of faster load times.

Something...Something...Games...Something

I'm annoyed enough as it is, but if I'd bought a Wii U already, which I almost did on the promise of games like Pikmin 3 and Wonderful 101, I'd be livid right now.

Monster Hunter keeps me distracted, handily. That'll easily last me another two months (more if i get a weapon requiring a damned Wyvern Stone), then i'd have only a month gap to fill through July until Pikmin 3

And i still have that copy of KOTOR II sitting around that i never cracked open...

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
