i can't see that not being subscription based. i also wonder it it will even have a optical drive.

This could be very interesting, if a little far-fetched atm. Sony have also shrunk the Cell but didn't put it in the last revision, so maybe we'll see two very cheap, bare bones SKUs competing. Or maybe not.

I don't get it, how is it a nice responce to that? If I want to keep playing X360 games after the Nextbox is released I buy another X360?

The $99 360 is going to lack a dvd drive and will be digital only,or so i fear. They are pushing digital distribution. It will also justify the $99 price tag because they will cut out store profit margin and make more money themselves.

The PS2 was the official "backwards compatibility peripheral" to the PS3 for years before it stopped production :P. 

Just think of this as a Xbox 720 peripheral...that requires its own plug-in socket to function lol. But in all seriousness this is a inexpensive way to get a 360 fix.

dunno, the 99$ wii was suppose to sell like hot cakes but it didn't same thing could happen to the 360 if it's lacking to much stuff for that price
