Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto: give the Wii U time.

The Wii U’s use of an integrated second screen poses a notable threat to Microsoft and Sony’s rival machines.

That’s according to design legend Shigeru Miyamoto who speaking to CNN said that the Wii U’s impact will grow considerably over time.

"The challenge that we had was if someone wanted to view television, then you couldn't play games,” he explained. “We wanted to have a second screen for Wii U that would make it possible for people to essentially play games even if something else was on the TV.

"There was a period when we first released the Nintendo DS that people would say there's no way people can look at two screens at once.

"I almost feel like, as people get more familiar with Wii U and these touchscreen interfaces, that there is going to come a point where they feel like 'I can't do everything I want to do if I don't have a second screen'."

Miyamoto also believes that Wii U has another ace up its sleeve – the fact that its design affords it a purpose as a general living room device.

I don't care anymore. JUST GIVE SOME GAMES TO PLAY.

MH3U can only hold down my boredom so far.

I am surprised they are still staying so secretive about any other games. They know it is struggling. Are there any other games coming? You begin to wonder after a while.

They already tried dual screen, and only one game really used it for gameplay (No, for real gameplay, not just showing the map)

It was called The World Ends with You and didn't sell a million.

You can make as much innovation as you want, one game designer out of thousands will use it.

Wii u second screen won't do anything, except showing the inventory. And well, I think we can live without it.

Edit : Plus, any tablet / smartphone / Vita could do the trick.

Nintendo acts like MS and Sony can't release a peripheral in the future to compete......

But what they don't acknowledge is that the more time goes by, the more dated the WiiU will look by comparison. This aint like the Wii, where casuals didn;t care about graphics......WiiU is for core gamers, and in a couple years it will allready look ancient compared to PS4/Xbox

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

You know that core gamers aren't only COD players right ? Indie gaming is on the scene right now, and if they can get devs ...

Well it will be difficult because of Nintendo policy but there will always be a possibility.

Zelda, pokemon and Mario never needed ultra high end graphics, but they have potential to bring core gamers.

Zelda has never been for pussies, Super Mario world had tons of gameplay hours and pokemon had t-rpg titles and roguelikes.

Wii U is for everyone.  I like the second screen because I can watch netflix in my bed (I have the Wii U in the living room), play some games off screen while lounging in my bed (it is where I get most of my high scores in Zen 2 since I prefer off screen play for the game over TV), web browse (it has a good web browser and since Wii U boots faster than my PC I have been using it more and more for web browsing), web browse / game while taking a shit and a few other things.  So to state that is just for the elite hardcore crowd is a false statement.  Nintendo markets to everyone.

Don't you guys have something else to do than playing Wii U? I also got a PS3 and once in a while I play a new game on it and currently the PS3 hasn't been on for weeks. This doesn't mean the PS3 is a bad console... You don't have to play 24/7 on a console to consider it good. Monster Hunter and Lego have been released. Pikmin 3 is coming soon.
