Forums - Music - Lady Gaga said no to $1 million to sing at Republican Convention

I don't know when the RNC is, but isn't she still relegated to a wheel chair? I liked Lady Gaga from "Just Dance", I think she was just new then... I had no idea her popularity level if she was, but I just keep up with most House/Dance Music and that was what was out. I don't like the attention seeking stuff she does personally, but if it somehow helps the cause, then that's a side effect I can accept... Though I think most of the major strides had been made before her in the equality movement(s) and she just rode the trend as a symbol that supports those causes... it just keeps her from becoming irrelevant, though it does help popularize the movement(s)

Apparently she recovered http://buzzworthy.mtv.com/2013/04/03/lady-gaga-bikram-yoga-new-york-city-photo/

I feel ashamed that I know this :(

Why? I read TMZ for comic hilarity and it's a great source of random conversation to start with everyday people. We all kinda find out about this stuff one way or another anyway.

to all the people who doesnt care or shit? why leave a comment?

because they think it is cool to say "i dont care" or "i dont give a shit" about pop stars... yey give yourself a +5 ATK on your sword

She would have destroyed her career had she appeared at the GOP convention so 1 million was not worth it.

lol. That is just hilarious to me. Nothing would have happened. I highly doubt her appearance would have stopped any gay bar from playing her songs or even her fans to suddenly burn her albums.

Why? Are some of her fans really that touchy?

OT: If this impedes on her personal views, then she shouldn't do it. Simple choice, really. (Good of her for not just falling for money. Well, 1 Million probably seems like nothing to her anyway. )

The gay community is largely credited for her fame. They are the people who made her famous, and in a way, I guess that is what keeps her famous (or at least relevant in my eyes). I remember her being somewhat famous (dance music famous which is notable) and then suddenly exploded in popularity... I was a little surprised but I could be wrong about the timing. It's just how it seemed to have went from what I had noticed.

I imagine the backlash would have been similar to what happened when the Dixie Chicks said they were ashamed George W. Bush was from Texas (and yes it did involve some album burning).

Signature goes here!

Hermaphrodites and Republicans do not get along. Wise decision.

I know she is a major beacon with Gay people, so I see what you're saying. But still, I can't imagine her fanbase to be that sensitive over her performing at this Convention.
