If Vgchartz is correct we have everything except Japan and RoW? Sorry my Table is weird. The overall total is bottom right. Thus, likely most everyone in here guessed over, except spurge.

Not counting PC, because VGC's PC tracking is never close to correct. But I can say I looked at launch Bioshock Infinites Peak Users on Steam was ~60,000, whereas Tomb Raiders was ~40,000, where Resident Evil 6 has had a peak of like ~30,000 and the online users for that is 96,000 (on PC, you can only have one account). How that translates to overall sales I'm not sure. Sorry if I was confusing.

  X360 PS3 Total

North America

458,938 219,646 678,584
Europe 166,057 111,582 277,639
Total 624,995 331,228 956,223

That's not the North America numbers, just US. The final number should be higher.

Regardless, it looks like sales are below my expectations. The PS3 opening is especially underwhelming.

With all the hype I definitely anticipated more. It may not even out perform Gears Judgement or GoW:A on their platforms. Combined sales are in the ballpark of Tomb Raider's opening and that was below expectations.

I honestly feel Bioshock Infinite would have performed better with online multiplayer.

I'll change that, those numbers are higher, would the rest of NA be included in RoW category VGC does? If I remember Tomb Raiders RoW was like around 150k-200k FW, I don't remember for certain. So that would put it around the same as Tomb Raider.

Hopefully 2K Games isn't like square, and have ridiculous expectations. Or VGC's just wrong :P.  I thought it would do better in Europe.

I wonder too, I understand people saying it doesn't need it. But it's an extra checkbox people look for, particularly the ones that the "cover" on this game is trying to appeal to, (not the peole on this site). It also has some ideas that might be cool in multiplayer.

I still wouldn't play it for more than a couple of hours. But CoD was known heavily for it's single player campaign, before it went silly.

750,000 units on 360
450,000 units on the ps3.

No doubt, if they put together some enjoyable multiplayer content it would have definitely gave a boost. I personally would have loved to see some sort of co-op modes. Multiple players fighting off waves of enemies is quite popular these days.

Even if you only used it for a few hours that's still more potential value. After I finished Bioshock Infinite, the disc might as well have been a coaster. Its not the kind of game I want to play multiple times or even go back to get more cheevos. I was done with it, time to play the next game or more Halo and Gears multiplayer.

It did end up with according to VGC the highest sales on consoles this year at
1,140,000 total I think.

Not including PC sales, but I've said it before :P.

I'm gonna put it in my mind that it is undertracked. Just because it was an amazing game and deserves 1.5-2.0 million first week.

I wanna bet it got 900,000-923,000 across all systems it launched on.

Combined sales under a million? I think that would be a huge disappointment if that was that case.

But you kinda got me thinking. Do the masses want a shooter with no multiplayer?

We'll have to wait and see!

I think it depends on the game. But I usually like to have that extra added to games. I always feel annoyed when a multiplayer mode is not added on. CoD is a game that could do without Single player. Games like Resident Evil, and Dead Space and even Bioshock are good without.

CoD would sell significantly less if they removed single player. So I wouldn't say it could do without a single player.

Resident Evil and Dead Space made multiplayer part of the campaign and changed the game. That isn't what I'd recommend for Bioshock infinite. Leave the campaign as is and just some deathmatch modes, co-op modes, etc.

Xbox 360: 800k
PS3: 550k

And I want to think that the PC would be the best selling platform, because it was the lead platform for development, by far the best version, and came with three free games if you preordered. But we won't really get those numbers since they're almost all DD.

I don't think it really did amazing on PC honestly it only hit 65k peak concurrent. http://steamgraph.net/index.php?action=graph&appid=8870&from=1362873259 which would put the sales at around 500-700k range first month (including retail as it's steamworks) I would guess, which is good but would put it likely below the PS3 version first week. If the old peak cuncurrent is ~10% of first month sales metric is acurate.

A few recent steamworks releases for comparison http://steamgraph.net/index.php?action=graph&jstime=1&appid=8870q49520q200510q203160&from=1343563200000&to=End+Time

Resident Evil 6 sort of agrees with that metric, There's 99,000 known online users with 14,000 registered RE.net accounts.

The peak was around 12,000 according to that site.
