all talk about playstation 4 being high end pc just got debunked

How so? It is currently a PC with the same specs would not run games near as good, and costs a lot of money. The number of PC's in the wild that will run that engine on those settings is minute. Also 99% of developers just port games to CP these days, so very few games will even take advantage of said PC hardware. I am a PC gamer BTW, so I know all about the ports.

Ok.. noone called the PS4 a high end PC. The hardware choices were smartly chosen by Sony imo. A good balance of power, efficiency and power consumption to cost. It would be daft if they pushed for a GTX670/680 or HD7970 equivalent with a high end CPU because it would increase the cost of the console by a lot. The Durango is along the same lines as the PS4 (although not quite as powerful) are both good enough for next gen.
I opened this thread expecting to see some people saying that the PS4 demo looks better. I wasn't disappointed.
Seriously, anyone that says it looks better is saying it because to their taste it looks better. Like running a PC game on low settings because they prefer that look. Anyone that says it looks better on the technical level clearly lacks any understanding of graphics technologies (just like the people that say NFSMW looks better on PS360 than on WiiU).
About the guy that said the PS4 will be ahead of most PCs for years to come, he's not lying: Most PCs are not gaming PCs. Actually, most PCs have weak Intel integrated GPUs.
From an epic developer ( source: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=52623084&postcount=413 )
"The biggest changes actually came from the merging of two separate cinematics, the original Elemental and the extended Elemental we showed at PS4's launch event. Each had different sun directions and required some compromises to join them. This resulted in some major lighting differences that aren't platform related but were due to it being a joined cinematic. Another effect, in the original you could see the mountains through the door where in the merged one we made the view through the door white since the mountains outside were no longer the same. Same deal with the mountain fly by. The old mountain range doesn't exist in the new one. These changes from the merge make direct comparisons somewhat inaccurate."
"Feature wise most everything is the same, AA resolution, meshes, textures (PS4 has tons of memory), DOF (I assure you both use the same Bokeh DOF, not sure why that one shot has different focal range), motion blur."
"Biggest differences are SVOGI has been replaced with a more efficient GI solution, a slight scale down in the number of particles for some FX, and tessellation is broken on ps4 in the current build which the lava used for displacement. We will fix the tessellation in the future."

Ah, nice! So elemental-demo on PS4 *is* close to PC which couldn't be seen with the screenshots. Most interestingly is the part of tesselation - seeing that this will be somehow a standard next-gen we can expect much better meshes which I always begged for. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, I've added that to OP. Some impressive stuff there.
I like the Epic answer and like I supposed before the PS4 demo is a lot different from the PC one... PS4 demo is merge between the old PS4 demo and the extended PC demo with different details (even a mountain).
About the SVOGI it won't be used even in PC in the next five years... PC needs at least a new GPU hardware generation to begin to work in games (not demos) with SVOGI... same for PS4... both are weak to do that... the same case with Ray-tracing.
And I expect the tessellation to be fixed for E3.
Everything else is the same in the demos... AA, meshes, textures, etc.
@nikosx: Thanks for posting that.
But that makes me wonder, how much time did Epic had to port the demo to the PS4? By the words of that employee it sounds like it was kind of a rushed job without time to fix the errors.
Is that how Epic works?
Please excuse my bad English.

For demos? I think so... it is a presentation demo after all... less than one month from PS4 reveal to GDC.
