We can't rule out the possibility because there's never been a mainline Pokemon game on a console. Ever since the N64 days all Pokemon games on consoles are spin off, not related to the main series.

There's a reason for that. Portability is the main attraction in Pokemon games. A game like that on the big screen would just be boring.

If Nintendo is in "panic mode" it's because of Nintendo Land and NSMBU not being able to "hook" casual players the way Wii Sports and NSMB Wii did.

They never designed the system for PS4/720 ports, so I doubt they care much about that.

Unlike 3DS, Nintendo hasa good number of games coming until end of year. 3DS didn`t have anything big besides OoT 3D, so they had to release Mario Land and Mario Kart to create some impact.

With Wii U, they will have Pikmin 3, W101, Lego City, MH 3, WW HD, Watch Dogs, Rayman Legends, Mario Kart or Mario U, AC IV, CoD, when the year is over.

Why does Nintendo need a panic mode similar to 3DS?
