Ok, we can quit this here, as the subject slightly turns in a selective way and the discussion will end in no good as it is not objectively measurable what is a gaming gpu, even if you would give a (biased) definition.

in case of steambox we'll see, as i wrote if done properly can wipe the floor with PS4.
in case of Sony i see no sympathy for their presence in console market, their idea to bring console gaming to more mature audience is most horrible thing that happened to this market, because this demography is not mature, if you think that gunz, blood and gore is mark of maturity then, well i respect your opinion, but i can't agree.

I stoped here because Titan is not a neh uArch... it is the same Kepler uArch launched in early 2012... the new uArch will come only late this year.
Sorry to disapoint you.

that gap is indeed 3x, I wouldn't be surprised if ethomaz thinks his local grocery store is 2x the size it is because of those mirrors that are placed at the end of food sections too. :p |
The graph is not mime... put all your hate in nVidia
I didn't give opinion in the OP... all the news was released by nVidia presentation in Japan.
PS I'm a nVidia fanboy and never bought a AMD GPU even when the AMD had better GPUs than nVidia.

LOL...you sound like the PC gamers when Nintendo was on top in the 90's. Sony made PC gaming practically pointless when all the top devs came to consoles full time. Definitely agree to disagree. Steam Box wont even scratch Sony or Microsoft.
P.S.
How ironic that MS came to console to help PC gaming out against Sony and only ended up hurting them further.
| pezus said: How would Nvidia know 720's specs? They aren't even making the GPU in it... |
I think all the industry knows... and nVidia needs to support the Nextbox with PhysX and others techs.
Not sure why people get excited about this. They haven't lied or anything, Titan is up to around 3x 7850 in performance.
Could next-gen consoles be on the same level, and have UE4 run on it with SVO instead of static GI? Sure. It would cost $899, have TDP and size of small nuclear reactor, and make MS and Sony bleed money.
Would that be better?

Then someone is going to be in deep trouble. That's illegal. A similar thing happened when Hyundai hired a quality engineer from Toyota.

2. No one said it's not true. Of course, a $400-$1000 GPU is going to be more powerful than a $150 one. My point, which still stands, is about how nvidia is butthurt about being the least relevant graphics card manufacturer in gaming. |
1. Yes, it is.
2. "butthurt" doesn't come into it. nvidia isn't a playground bully or a person with emotions. It's a company that will do anything to make money within the remit of the law. That's the purpose of a for profit company and that's what it's shareholders would want. There's nothing evil going on here, it's just standard PR sparring. Don't take it so personally :) It really isn't personal, you know when you read say a tabeloid newspaper that's full of spin and all that, that journalist who has written it is doing their job. The purpose is to sensationalize and put across and agenda. Nvidia has an agenda just like every other company in the world, no big deal.
I'll also draw you to the fact that AMD was doing this kind of thing for years back in the days where it's CPUs ran at a lower clock speed compared to Intel's but did more work per clock and they rated their CPUs in relation to Intel calling a 1.86Ghz CPU a 2100+ for example. Is that dishonest? Is that misleading? Is that wrong, no, it's business.
Don't get suckered into this and think that it's all about the end customer for a product they have decided not to invest in, it's not, it's all about the MONEY, it's all about the perception, and NOT the perception of YOU or ME or anyone on a gaming website, but the perception of investors and shareholders and people who may be interested in the Gefore Titan etc.

Very hard to prove and only deep trouble after years of legal back and forth, have to remember that the article at pcmag.com is just that, an article.
