Forums - Gaming - Unreal Engine 4: Infiltrator Demo! (Full Demo)

Hardware: "The new showcase is called Infiltrator, running on a PC utilising a Core i7 CPU matched with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 and 16GB of DDR3 RAM."

PS4: "Epic expects its next-gen titles to have the same level of detail and visual accomplishment we see in the Infiltrator demo."

So Epic expect to PS4 run this level of games.

Ex Graphics Whore.

This was running on a GTX Titan apparently, which is a 4.5 tflops GPU with 6gb of GDDR5; compared to PS4 which has a 2 tflops GPU and 8gb of GDDR5. According to Carmack, "Consoles run 2x or so better than equal PC hardware"... So PC guys, what does this mean? Can PS4's GPU produce results equivalent to a 4 tflops GPU, and therefore run this demo (pretty much)?

edit: may of actually been GTX 680, which is a 5 tflops GPU with 2gb GDDR5.

Nvidia flops /= AMD Flops in terms of game performance a GTX680 at 3 Tflops trades blows with the 4 Tflop HD 7970 for example.

PS4 won't ever come close to this on a raw technical level (of a GTX680 let alone a Titan), with the right optimisation (read cheap tricks) they should be able to achive a convincing facsimile tho.

Asked directly if its brand new Infiltrator demo could run on next-gen console, Epic vice president Mark Rein replied:

"Well, let's put it this way. Last year we saw the Elemental demo running on the same piece of hardware and this year we saw the Elemental running on PS4, so I'd say draw your own conclusions... The feeling around Epic on Infiltrator is that this is the pipeline, this is the way we're going to work, making games that are going to have this kind of feel to them, this much detail, this many shadows and it'll just get better and better as we optimise the engine further and further."

wow! i'll say with next-gen we won't ever see "videos" ingame - everything will be rendered in realtime. it's surprising how engines evolved and how much engine-designers longed for a hardware-upgrade!

Not like it matters, whose to say the system was maxed out running that game? It could of only been using half the power.

Unbelievable. How on earth can it look like CGI and run on a GTX680?

Just the other day I thought Frostbite 3 would be the king but I have to bow down and concede that UE4 is the best next gen graphics engine.

On a GTX680.... wow.

considering how downgraded Elemental looked when they showed it on PS4 from the 680 demo, the conclusion I must draw is that they will need to noticeably downgrade it visually.

Check out my hype threads: Cyberpunk, and The Witcher 3!

Don't you hate it when a tech demo is so cool you want it to be a game or a movie, but it's never going to be more than a tech demo?

Looks good, but, really, it's such a small jump. I hope at least PC releases can get better graphics thanks to these new consoles.
