Forums - Nintendo - So No MGSV For Wii U Either. Where's All This Japanese Support We Were Promised?

Well MGSV has only been confirmed for current gen anyways. There hasn't been an official announcement on it coming out for ps4 or durango either. That aside, alot of 3rd parties are skipping the wii u so this shouldn't really come as a huge surprise to anyone.

I don't think that Kojima has ever really cared for Nintendo.

He certainly cared enough to "beg" Nintendo to put his overrated, doesn't-fit-the-game-at-all character into Brawl.

You'd think after they put Snake in SSBB they'd give Nintendo more MGS.

This seemed to be the big promise for Wii U owners, don't worry about Western 3rd party devs because Japanese devs will come through.

Well where are they? Where's Metal Gear Rising on Wii U (a game designed by a Wii U friendly studio)? Now I guess it was to be expected by MGSV left off the Wii U ... yeah predictable I guess, but still frustrating.

So basically we should be content with maybe a few scraps from Ubi Soft every 3-4 months and perphas a 360/PS3 port of Call of Duty. Whoopity doo.

They are not coming.

Supposedly MGS3D was the answer to that favor.

Of course, they cut that game's legs off by doing something very similar to what EA did with Mass Effect 3 for Wii U.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Are you still surprised ?

Many Japanese franchises have been skipped from Nintendo home consoles since the N64. Want to name them ? Metal Gear Solid. Street Fighter. Final Fantasy. Tekken. Castlevania. Dead or Alive. And the list goes on and on. A few spin-offs maybe, but the main games have been all skipped.

Why would it be different this time ? Why would we expect something different ? There´s nothing here that both we and Nintendo have not experienced before.

anything is possible Ninja Gaiden 3 made it to WiiU, Tekken made it to WiiU and they were launch titles

Nintendo really got the short end of the stick on that deal. I'd say that SEGA has done more for Nintendo than Kojima.

Hey! Mass Effect 3 is supposedly playable!

The only real assumption were making is tying Sony's lack of success with the Vita with the potential for success of the PS4. Sony themselves said they'd have to make more first/second party content this gen.

Technically speaking, it maybe more than likely since jap. devs are mostly porting / dual releasing content on home and portable devices.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Problem is, Snake didn't belong or fit in Smash Bros. to begin with. They only stuck him in as a favor to Kojima, and as you say, he obviously isn't reciprocating. He could even do a Wii U exclusive side game, similar to Rising. But it doesn't bother me much, as I've never been into the series, even the old ones.

In reply to other people saying third party games "Aren't coming" to Wii U though....I think that's kind of silly. Lego City Undercover and an improved version of Monster Hunter 3 just came out, along with an improved version of the last Need For Speed game. The DC fighting game Injustice is coming, ACIV, Watch Dogs, RE: Revelations, the next Splinter Cell, etc. Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2 are two rather substantial exclusives because Platinum always delivers. Suda 51 clearly stated that he intended to make another No More Heroes, and that if he did, it would be on Nintendo's next console. An improved version of Deux Ex: Human Revolution is coming out. A NA release of Dragon Quest X is inevitably still coming (it always takes them forever to localize those). Rayman Legends is still coming, and will still be the best version considering it was built FOR the Wii U originally. Shin Megami Tensai x Fire Emlem is a pretty huge release for hardcore rpg fans.

There certainly needs to be more, but I'd say that's a pretty solid foundation, and in some ways more than Wii got. I think more 3rd party games will be announced for Wii U, and people just need to chill the fuck out.
