Forums - Nintendo - Ouya to launch with nintendo emulators

Android powered games console OUYA will come equipped with a number of Nintendo gaming emulators. The emulators include EMUya, a NES emulator, SuperGNES and the Mupen64Plus which are Nintendo 64 emulators. The console will also come with a couple of SNES emulators. The NES emulato has been submitted to OUYA for review and has been confirmed for launch. OUYA forum admin and owner Ed Krassenstein has also confirmed that the Mupen64Plus project will also be available at launch. These will be available via the official store.

I do not really understand how the managers or OUYA can allow this, and why nintendo doesn't react, but I guess nintendo's first party games are going to be a selling point for the OUYA! How will nintendo react to this?

Around the Network

if it was just announced then Nintendo would probably not have had the time to react, they probably don't know about it yet

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

About time Nintendo went third party.

The Galaxy S4 - which has a dual analog controller and can play the games on your TV has already made Ouya completely obsolete IMO. All Android devices (and PCs) have these emulators already so Ouya having them is nothing special.

Now if someone brings Dolphin (GC/Wii emulator) to Android - that would be special.

So are Nintendo games going to be sold on OUYA or just the emulators?

Signature goes here!

Around the Network

owning emulators is not illegal but downloding roms to play games is illegal

Just emulators. Nintendo aren't involved in this, other than the fact that they made the games that are emulated.

I don't think there are any ARM chips capable of emulating Wii/GC, yet. I'm sure it'll happen eventually, though, but by that time Ouya 4.0 will probably be out.

I dont think there is anything nintendo can do about this. as far as i know emulation is perfectly legal.
