Forums - PC - First impressions of League of Legends from a Dota 2 player

My main problem with LoL is the lack of punishment. So, not only this rewards bad plays but also don't make them learn from mistakes. Surely it is great when you are bad at the game, but in the long term it just isn't good for the competitivity.

I was around 420W/320L (and my average ping was 200ms), and every game I'd see some players doing some things so wrong that I just didn't understand how someone who played that much couldn't know.

Oh, and paying to have an advantage surely didn't help me like it more.

Dota does have some stupid mechanics (creep blocking, pulling and stacking), but there are so many more in LoL.

I wish there was a mechanic in Lol where if you die you get some $$ deducted.

Some champs can just suicide farm.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

After 5 matches you are probably level 3 and still way into newbie territory. Come back when you are 30 and played a decent amount of ranked matches.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

you played against noobs that's why, play ranked when you are level 30 and you will see escaping ain't so easy, farming ain't either, also you can deny farm by keeping pressure on the other guy, when I play caitland on bottom and I play against a vayne since my champ got a longer range you can just hit them when they try to farm and soon or later their hp will be to low and they'll stay back missing a lot of creeps

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I've played both of these games, stopped playing Dota 2 because I'm colourblind and well you can play it if your colourblind. I enjoy playing Lol mainly its fairly fast and you get to rage at people that are noobs :P

I don't see anything wrong with lol, really the whole so easy to play, coming from Dota people is annoying. I don't understand why a game as to be hard to play for it to be fun. Playing Lol with mates is one of the best feelings you can do if your all skyping together.

One of the few things i do agree which would make Lol better is that if you could deny creeps it was help a lot for trying to shut down a lane. But that being said if your smart enough that when even they come in for a last hit you tag them, its not a problem.

Heroes of Newerth is playable for those who are colourblind! Try it out!!

Nobody wants to play HoN, bro. NOBODY.

OT: Why did you have to use the word "wrong"? I see its in quotes but still your penalizing it not being more like DoTA, I mean lord forbid LoL tries to be its own game. Deny creeps would take away from the important part of support/carry synergy in lane (i'm not sure how lanes work in DoTA 2, if the same roles exists, etc) cause most likely the support would deny creeps as the carry needs to focus on poking and last hitting. Supports have to follow the carries every move and trying to deny creeps kills would lead to getting caught out of place.

I'll come back and expand a little more on your points, gotta go to work soon. LoL and DotA have their own pros and cons but i like LoL's accessability, although both game can be very difficult to master.

That's the plan, getting to rank 30 and bumping this thread to see if my points still stand. Might take a while though, don't have much time and that time will most likely be spent on Dota an other games lol.

Where exactly are you rewarded for bad plays? The only thing that comes close is the summoner spell, Flash, which is basically a blink like in the old DotA. Every time i make a mistake, i feel like shit, i don't feel rewarded at all.

I'm assuming you mean in normal matches. People troll, people take it easy and people have the liberty to try out different buils and play styles which maybe strange and unconventional, like support ashe or adc Thresh. If you played a lot of rank, it is a completely different setting (and a much more toxic, unfortunately) I would expand more on this but running late.

Lastly, Where are you paying for an advantage? If you are talking about rune pages, they can also be purchased with in-game currency. Runes are in-game currency only and skins do not affect the champion's abilities. So i will aks again, where are you paying for an advantage?

Bigger champion pool = advantage. I played around 200 ranked matches (gold ranking), having a champion that can counter the enemy could be the difference between winning and losing -this isn't a big problem with blink pick/no bans-.

Most people don't see it as an advantage, but it is. Yes I can buy they with in-game currency, but how long would it take to buy them all? If I'm buying champions, I'm not buying runes and vice versa.

Flash isn't really like a blink, you can counter a blink (silence) and the blink dagger is disabled when you receive damage. You don't need proper positioning or vision (wards) if you have flash. No cast time too.

While bad plays aren't "rewarded" as I said, there is a bunch comeback mechanics, which reduces the burden of errors. I don't like this, but I can see why people would.

Not really, but as you said, you have no idea what you are talking about.

In this case, being easier means lower skill ceiling and less strategy in the game.
