96 now! Fucking great to see a game be recieved so high for a change.
I dont think TLOU will top this, I am guessing around 90-92 for it.
GTA has a shot though.

NowGamer.com wrote: "Bioshock Infinite is a fantastic game" They then said that only "compared to the original" does it seem not as unique of a game and gave it an 8/10. The review perhaps failed to realize that it's fucking CALLED BIOSHOCK. It's not a new damned IP, and expands on the original idias of its predecessor, like follow-ups are supposed to. Again, bullshit.
The numbers mean nothing. 80, 95, 100... none of it matters. Take your time and read. |
Agreed. But too many people just look at that last score and judge the game on that.
it got already more 8/10 as the first bioshock with much less reviews which means it only is so crazy high because those aren't weighted that much on metacritic but score will be still great when all reviews are in.
bioshock is one of my favourite games this gen, awesome that this seems to be great as well.

It's also because since late 2011, sites have not dished out that high scores therefore the entire scale of weight must've shifted somewhat.
Getting a 10 from like 15 outlets now hasn't happend in almost 1 and a half year. The weight is related to how often site give scores somehow. It's been over a year since Skyrim or Batman AC was the last game to recieve that high critical acclaim. The walking dead got few reviews and it wasnt until the whole collection was out until it got into its 90s. Journey also hit around 92.

Very true, games do seem to be judged more harshly these days...the only retail game to score over 90 in the past year pretty much is Fire Emblem, and it's not because of a low number of great games.

Yep, very good indeed. I'm sadly waiting for the inevitable low score for hits though.
Wow. I'm actually very, very surprised at how well received this game is.
As I said before, I've been playing it since Saturday and I guess I've completed about 2/3 already.
At first, I really felt like a tourist. The city is amazingly beautiful and lifelike. I lost my self in the first couple of hours because I wanted to listen at every NPC's conversation and look at every corner. I think it's no exageration that I've spent 3 hours in the 1st segment which can easily be completed in 1 hour or less.
On the flipside, technically it is really average looking. The NPC's look really bad and stiff compared to other games. Even Elizabeth doesn't look that great, although she is a really lovely woman you'll care about.
The combat is still fun, but still not great. In the original Bioshock it was a lot of fun at first but became very repetitive towards the end. Same here, I can't see any evolution here. I also miss the crazy Splicers and stuff like that. Now you're fighting some random guys and the bigger opponents can't match the Big Daddies.
Although I'm loving Columbia, I also kinda miss the dark physcopathic freak show Rapture was.
So, overall it's still a great game but I can't really say if it's better than the original Bioshock, which is disappointing.
Irrational Games are masters at creating an atmosphere that sucks you in but the combat still isn't great.
It's a 8.5 out of 10 for me.
PS: Bioshock = 8.5/10, Bioshock 2 = 8/10.
Holy mother of balls, I may have to get this game. I bought the original Bioshock, played it for an hour and never played it again. It was way too dark and dull for me, but I'm guessing this is different? I'll check gameplay videos on YouTube...
