So look like the "bad revies " hurt the sales of this game. That and the fact taht it is a prequel and not another sequel.

But i never expectet this game to sell more than God of War 3 lifetime anyway. Anbything between 3 and 4 million lifetime should be fine for that game so late in the gen.

It'll be lucky to reach 2 million considering it came out so near the end of the current generation.  Can you see people buying this game in 2014 when PS4 is out?

2 million is rather low, it will crack 3 million easily, especially when the PS3 is sub-$200, Greatest Hit editions and new Complete Collection arrive eventually. It will also go on sale as a digital download and many tens of thousands will buy that one too.

So I got God of War III for next to nothing just to see what this franchise's fuss was about. Got 'til halfway through the underworld. To say the least, my impression: "D**n, talk about epic!"

On-topic, half the sales of an earlier iteration of a series is no real surprise, when it's so late in the generation. Will do good numbers either way. There will be a GoWIV, no worries.

So...you like it? :O

Yes. I'm impressed .

I mean, if Poseidon was just the first boss... O.O

Worst GOW ever in the franchise, shm -_-

mmm...no.  It is actually the best.       Most reviewers of this game are just people who does not how to play a game properly.  "It is too hard", and most people did it in their first try;  "there is a puzzle I am stuck" Most people did it without any help.   "The multiplayer is tacked on" =  "I suck at the multiplayer".    It is like if they gave the game to gamers  that play mobile games the most in order to review, OH WAIT! they did it   >_>  (looks at gamespot review)

IF i were to say which GOW was teh best , then two was and three in terms of titan fights. For me the series is overrated. Actually teh newest GOW is damn easy. Not even challenging. Want a challenge ,, play the original ninja gaiden on the xbox. That on normal is harder then GOW on hard or even harder then GOW on titan difficulty. It didn't sell well because liek Gears of war, the series is finally hitting its fatigue stage as teh series hven't involved significantly to be fresh like tomb raider did henc e why Tomb raider rebbot is selling liek hotcakes at the moment. None the less its entertaining enough to waarant one completion and the multiplayer is fun but not balanced.

So, If you are talking about GOW1-2 I guess you have played them right? If so, GOW: Ascension is the hardest GOW game yet too. So believe me, you will have your challenge.  And the multiplayer if you actually try to learn the mechanics, and not complain about it, you will notice that it is balanced AND entertaining.

Harder you mean tonnes more enemis and each enmeis bign a hell alot stronger then kratos and you are outnumbered 10 to 1 then maybe ,, however the parry system in the new one is alot better and easier to execute which makes a differnce. Its quite easy for me as i hvae finished ninja gaiden  the orignal that was harder tehn GOW ascension on hard or even titan.I played them all including the psp and the ps2 HD remakes. its still unbalance especial for those who just join . Their character stats won't be as high as the ones who are level 10 or more as they those people who have advanced equipmentthat significantly boost your stats . I am playign and teh stats does help alot especially when killign peopel as it makes you stronger and more but also you need to know how to combo and time your hits.
you can still kill being disadvantage in stats but for some it would be a turnooff. I agree its alot fun. I enjoy teh multiplayer more then teh sp as teh combat her is better . Shame theres not many moves in the multiplayer

It's worth noting that this is the 2nd biggest launch week for a GoW game, more than both GoW and GoW II.

Shhh... some in the thread are in doom mode. Don't spoil it for them.

Though, I'll say this - it won't do as much as III, worldwide, but as a prequel, I didn't place an unrealistic expectation on it to begin with. Also, it's great to see Tomb Raider performing well! Best adventure game I've played in the last 5.5 years.

Doom mode indeed.

Yeah, being a prequel will limit it. Although I do hope it can hit 4 million like the rest of the main-line console games.

So... from what I can tell, this game came out on the 15th in the UK. so... It's only had three days. I realize I'll probably get blasted by people saying things like "NUH IT DONT WERK DAT WEIGH. ONLY FRST DAYS COUONT" and stuff like that, but to me it makes sense to have such low sales if it's only been on the market for three days in Europe. It came out Tuesday in America, and it's had a week. Plus, we haven't even seen the American sales, let alone the sales for the rest of the world. So I don't get why everyone's so concerned...? maybe by throwing some math and judgement together we can predict what the worldwide sales will be...? ugh, whatever. I'm really enjoying this game either way.

God of War Ascension is much harder than 2-3 but I personally had the most strugle with the orignal game.

Fair enough.  I guess for havign finished the orginal ninja gaiden , all hack and slash games thereafter are easy in comparison. I have yet to find a hack and slash title that can compete with nija gaidens difficulty and challenge lol.  Have you finished the game?

I see that excuse a lot.

In 90% of the cases a game comes out on a Tuesday in the US and on a Friday in Europe.
Therefore GoW isn't special in that case. The first few days are the most important ones (for non-casual games) so the majority of sales have already been made. We know it did 27k-30k, even with 4 more days it would've done 40k at the end of the week. (2nd week drop is usually over 50%).
At least you didn't make the mistake to say that these numbers only include 1 day of sales.... I see that a lot as well. Though I think they're stopping the week on a Saturday, so it's actually 2 days.

I can understand the hyseria though. Whether it be a small market for that game or not, it hasn't beaten the second week of a multiplat game, let alone its best selling version.  And Tomb Raider is not a huge seller either.

Having said all that. Tomb Raider is actually the exception and came out on a Tuesday in the UK (and the rest of Europe). That also explains the big second week drop (-72%).

good for tomb raider,i bought one of those, personally it is much more my sort of game TR,i played GOW's on PS2 and thought they were great just too old for the heavy button bash these days.lol, poor wrists

but GOW is really usa heavy i think, not saying it will sell better than the others but they love their GOW over there

I'm not sure if you remember, but you were the one I asked a bunch of questions on which tomb raider I should play a for a couple years ago because I was interested in the way you described it or something.

I've since bought and beat every tomb raider besides Anniversay (idk I guess I got bored of it because it's a remake of the first TR and I beat it first trying to do a comparison and failed) and Chronicles haha.
