Forums - Sony - Did Sony's Vita Price Cut in Japan Hurt Sales of NoA Vita Sales?

So Did It Effect NoA at All?

Definetly! Needs that price Cut ASAP 13 48.15%

Jus a little 5 18.52%

Nothing Really Major 5 18.52%

Not At All 4 14.81%

Total:27

So as you all know Vita has exploded in sales this past week and should likely continue for the month due to great software. With the help of a major price cut, Sony's handheld is getting the attention it needs.... In Japan!

With the price cut there, it should definitely mean a pricecut everywhere else but due to losing money/etc Sony cant give NoA a price cut (imo at least intill E3 or when Killzone comes in Sept).

Now on Topic, will this hurt Vita sales everywhere excluding Japan? Since everybody will likely want to get one for cheaper and/or wait for cheaper memory? Remember this is not personal so dont say no if you would get one, this is for the general public!

Sales of past month in just US
FEB 9 ~ 5528
FEB 16~ 5979
FEB 23~ 5477
MAR 3 ~ 4620

They will only cut the price when they got big games releasing. I guess theres a chance it might happen when Killzone mercenary comes out.

Not as much as the memory cards prices and lack of games pushing the system. I doubt 95% of people are even aware there was a price cut in Japan.

Not sure how aware the general consumer is, so I doubt it has much of an effect.

As to anyone on this site or any gaming site I saw 100% yes. If I plan to get a Vita, I sure as hell am going to wait for a price cut. I mean a price cut will happen sooner or later, and most likely sooner since another region already got one.

I don't know how long I would wait for a price cut, but at minimum I would wait until the holiday season. If no price cut in 2013, then I might be willing to pay its current price in 2014 early. Though thinking now, I would probably be like "i waited this long. I know as soon as I buy it the next day they will announce price cut" Thus I end up waiting again and never buying until price cut.

I didn't know NoA was in the business of selling a competitor's handheld.

Actually, I don't think that the lack of a price cut is caused by their financial status. The japanese price cut came with 3 popular games: Phantasy Star, Soul Sacrifice and Senran Kagura. And there is FFX HD and DoA coming and they already have a lot of JRPGs. They are with a good japanese lineup.

Talking about the west, there is nothing. No new game to brag about. A price cut here wouldn't help and would only cost money. They will cut the price at E3 (with a redesign) or in September when Tearaway and Killzone (that can use the hype of the PS4 version) come out. Then it would be effective. Or, maybe, they can delay the price cut until next year and only use an aggressive strataegy on Blak Friday, but that would be more risky.

IMO it did... not by a whole lot but still. Maybe Sony is waiting for a bigger software release to make a double combo :-??
