Forums - Sales - Wii U Gets Games - Will Sales Go UP?

New Games will make Wii U sales go...

Up a little. 12-15k a week in March. 85 35.56%

Up a lot. 15-20k. 50 20.92%

Way up! 20k+. The winter drought is over!! 53 22.18%

No impact. 10k. 35 14.64%

WiiDuuumed! Sales going down... 16 6.69%

Total:239

So Wii U sales divebombed after Christmas to historic lows.  This may or may not have been related to a complete lack of game releases.  Almost every game launched with the system (November 18 in US), with a few unimpressive straglers in early December.  That means 3 full months without games.  In the second half of March there is a noticible jump with Monster Hunter Ultimate, NFS: Most Wanted, Walking Dead, Amazing Spider Man, and Lego City.  None of those are hugely exciting to me, but they do all have some dedicated fans.  Most of all they are real, actual games.  Will the system actually having games released improve its dismal sales?  If so, by how much?

I think it's the begining of improvent.  March ends Nintendo's rediculously long "launch window" and the post-launch releases like Pikmin, WiiFit and Wonderful101 seem more interesting/unique. We may see a slow but steady improvement that leads into WiiPlay U, WindWakerHD and then the big Christmas season.

I don't think the games mentioned in the first paragraph will do much to increase teh sales

as for Wii Fit U it might give it a boost but the price is not right for the casual audience yet so the game won't do much for the system

Pikmin 3 will give it a small boost, Wonderful 101 is a new franchise that looks like it will be very niche so it will probably not do anything for the system.

honestly we need to wait until after E3 to see what sales might look like based on the games announced there

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

We need SSB and Zelda out prontoooo.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/profile/92109/nintendopie/ Nintendopie  Was obviously right and I was obviously wrong. I will forever be a lesser being than them. (6/16/13)

I expect sales to go up, but they will only be a temporary relief.

well.. nintendo fans would hope..

typically when a console establishes a well rounded line up of games, sales tend to go up.. ps3 is a prime example of that.. but there are a lot of other factors (besides a good line up of games) behind what made the ps3 the top seller and the closing of that generation..

I think they'll increase a little but will have drop off again after a few weeks, I don't think the Wii U will perform until after e3 this year and only as long as Nintendo throw a price-drop in the mix as well. I hope I'm wrong though, waaay wrong, I love my Wii U :)

ps3 was the top seller of this gen?? hmmmm

While the Wii U March release list is improved by having some games... it doesn't compare to the March release list of PS3 (or Xbox 360). You may see an increase, but expect a much higher increase for PS3 than Wii U.

Well, the real system sellers won't be here till christmas that's right. But a steady stream of releases will nonetheless help the system gain some momentum. The lineup looks pretty good for the rest of the year already (Wii Fit, Wario, Pikmin, Zelda, etc.). There's not that one game that will sell the system all on its own but the combined effect of those titles will help.
