I really dont like origin. I dont like how some games launch from a browser. I dont trust EA. but if they sell games cheap enough i will buy them from time to time

It's not that bad. It's definitely not as good as Steam at the moment, and the games are far too expensive when you take into account Steam sales (or the fact I can usually get games cheaper on Amazon). I can see it improving in the future as they try to compete though.
At least it's not as bad as GFWL.
Made an account to play the multiplayer version of the Mass Effect 3 demo. Never looked back since.

Wow..
Before I read that article, I thought EA just wanted an Origin app for WiiU....but no...they wanted Nintendo's network to be hosted by them? Thank god that never transpired... |
That's only rumour and I think that's a major exageration. EA want control of their own servers/distribution for their games, and by the sound of things they've managed to negotiate an arrangement with Sony and Microsoft (guess we'll see at E3).
If it's anything like the mix up with Valve, then EA want to be able to control where, when and how DLC gets released for their games. Sounds like Valve and Nintendo don't want to lose that control, let alone the potential revenue or DLC sales data.
I don't like it. I don't like Steam either but I can put it with it because I actually trust Valve a bit and they are trying to improve Steam. Steam has tons of features that make it a nice platform whilst Origin does not. (Not to say I use those features because I certainly don't...) EA has a history of disrespecting their customers in various ways, I can't trust them.

I'm pretty sure the article states that EA wanted to host the Nintendo Network by themselves,, which Nintendo turned down. How would this make them lose control of their servers?
I had some proper thought about it earlier, and I'd say it was no wonder that EA were desperately trying to get Origin into the console market, considering Valve has been in the media lately about making a console of their own....
so, can you buy valve games on origin? if not, why do you "hate" origin if you get a few ea games not on steam but vice versa it's totally fine?
i'm a big steam fan and i don't like origin so much right now but steam is also only looking for our money and nothing else and they also don't want to make the competition stronger for themselves.
i found it funny when gabe complained so much about windows 8 and the integrated gaming stuff because it would hurt other services but doesn't he do the same with steam? how does he not hurt other services making valve games only available on steam and no other services? and what would he have done if microsoft would have asked him to integrate steam to windows 8? i'm sure he wouldn't have said: "no ty, i don't want to have that advantage against other services".
the only reason he complained was because he fears more competition for his own service, not because he likes to see other services staying alive lol. as long as you can still use other services on windows i see no problem.
I was going to get SC5 but EA managed to save me $60 to spend on something else.

Same, but it's less to do with it being on origin and more to do with the terrible design choices they've made.

Haven't had any problems with origins so far, but the last time i said that was about Games For Windows Live and then that service almost screwed me
