 Your info is incorrect, the vast majority are still in Brawl.  At E for All everything but Wavedashing, double jump canceling, and projectile land canceling was still in (l-canceling was changed).  Keep in mind though that there at some pretty big physics changes (don't need to face the ledge to grab it, new airdodge) too so some more advanced techniques/exploits will certainly be found.

@Meow TheMouse: Wavedashing went out due to the new airdodge, Double Jumping was removed due to physics changes for those who could do it.  Only land canceling projectiles was removed directly.

@Ben Kenobi: Many of the techniques effectiveness really depends on the character being used (as well as implmenting those techniques into your play style).  Without UpB shield canceling, Bowser would be even more abysmal than he alreay was.  Wavedashing was so amazing on characters that slide nigh forever -- Luigi, ICs -- as to replace running and walking as their normal method of movement.  Sonic is incredibly fast in his dash and has plenty of frames to cancel it in the other direction, so his dash-dance will be a great tool.

This sounds like a top notch idea. I'm tempted to get a Wii. I much prefer my more serious beat em ups, but smash bros mellee for my cube was all about fun and has a decent skill curve as well. Adult Link for me too. How gay was sheik? soooo fast. And pikachu could get back in from anywhere the yellow dog!!!!

 Online isn't really similar...the Wii's online is very barebones...and it is slightly annoying to type in a 16-digit number for each friend...but you only have to enter them in once...then they're saved in your address book.

It's not the easiest system to use, but it works (hopefully well with Smash).
