Same thing with the PSVita, got confused with a new model of the PSP after launch. Is the average consumer really THIS stupid?

It has nothing to do with being stupid, it has to do with having just a marginal interest in gaming which is how the vast majority of humanity walk through life.

I am just guessing, but for people who are excpetionally interested in Mongolian politics, your grasp of the different parties in Mongolia might be quite unimpressive, some might even say ignorant. Does that make you stupid, or is it just because you have not invested too much effort into a topic you don't really care about?

Yes.
The WU. (Wooo)

e=mc^2

Gaming on: PS4 Pro, Switch, SNES Mini, Wii U, PC (i5-7400, GTX 1060)

I always thought they should've called it "Super Wii." Lame but the NES revitalized the industry while Wii revitalized Nintendo. The only issue is that a) It is lame and b) The SNES was an awesome continuation of the NES legacy while the Wii U looks meh so far.

Too late, I already got used to "WiiU".

Yes, he is. People outside the gaming industry need it spelled out.

No, who renames a product after launch?

Whats wrong with Wii 2(too), much better than WiiU(you)

Sure, a 2 is more understood by the general audience. But it also carries as negative by being more of the same. Nintendo's goal is to sell a new experience to the Wii. Not just Wii v.2

The Wii U name was a poor decision, people look at it as an add-on to the Wii like The Wii Fit balance board was, & since most people have lost interest in the original Wii at this point they have no incentive to look into the Wii U which they perceive as simply a new controller for a system they no longer use & not a whole new system.
Are these people "stoopid", no, Nintendo messed up with it's message to the press when they revealed the Wii U, they continued to miss the mark in getting a clear message across straight through to the launch of the system, showcasing a new Mario game that looked upon first glance to be more of the same that the Wii was offering, just with a new controller.
Nintendo messed up, period.

The sad thing is, it was a car crash in slow motion that a lot of us saw happening, but Nintendo refussed to swerve.

I'm not suggesting that a fast switch would be done, but a gradual phasing out of the Wii part by marketing in the first place.

Meaning that commercials and packaging would center around showing the U front and center. So people might related to it as the U, even though the official boxname at that time would still be the Wii U.

When perception has shifted to the U as the common name, then Nintendo could quitely change the packaging or naming...
... and no one would really notice. Or care.

they already screwed up by naming it WiiU, now they would screw it twice if they rename it something else. The confusion would be massive.
