The Wii U name was a poor decision, people look at it as an add-on to the Wii like The Wii Fit balance board was, & since most people have lost interest in the original Wii at this point they have no incentive to look into the Wii U which they perceive as simply a new controller for a system they no longer use & not a whole new system.
Are these people "stoopid", no, Nintendo messed up with it's message to the press when they revealed the Wii U, they continued to miss the mark in getting a clear message across straight through to the launch of the system, showcasing a new Mario game that looked upon first glance to be more of the same that the Wii was offering, just with a new controller.
Nintendo messed up, period.
The sad thing is, it was a car crash in slow motion that a lot of us saw happening, but Nintendo refussed to swerve.
