It's really not, seeing how we actually like those games...

If you think 100k sold in the US mean people like the games then Japan also likes FPS and way more proportionally to the US who has 3 times the population

That only matter if the game is huge as DQ in Japan. Otherwise, same numbers (or even better) means that we like as much if not more than they do.

You must consider the population of each country, japan is 100m and the US is 350m so if a game sell the same in the US as japan is not all that good, for example if the Tales of the abyss port for the 3ds sell 100k in Japan and 100k in the US will you consider we like the game the same as japan?

This of course is a hypothetical case, I would love to see all japanese games come over
