No it isn't Halo is at best average You just don't know it better cause you probably never played really skill based shooters Shooters in general aren't liked that much there.
Japan isn't racist - Apple is doing fine. Every game they want is on the PS3 or other platforms they like and they only want those games at those platforms. After this Gen they hate Microsoft probably even more cause on the beginning they were on a shopping tour and bought a lot of the games that forced some of them to buy a 360 just to see ~ a year later the same game 10 times better on the PS3. And the Microsoft/360 is for many people the reason Final Fantasy had such a straight downfall in quality cause Wada is in love with the west.
Its either Karma or anything else but all this aggressive shopping on the exclusive list of Sony at the beginning of this Gen didn't help them at all. It probably made everything even worse. And the 360 had the advantage the PS3 was damn expensive and hard to develop for.Especially cause most J-Devs are poor and couldn't risk and afford the wait and transition over to the PS3.They had to take the offers. Most J-Devs are for years now back at the Sony camp - Now it adds up the PS4 is easy to develop for and people get slowly the interest back at J-RPGs and stuff even outside of Japan. Microsoft won't get anything except for maybe the bad(not the Nomura games) SquareEnix games and who cares for them? They will get worse and worse

Don't assume anything about me buddy. I've been playing shooters since Wolfenstein. The Quake series is my bread and butter. I have the original installed on my Windows 8 machine right now just to replay it all these years later. I've played so many shooters you'd think I'd be sick of the genre, but I'm not. Duke Nukem 3D, Half-Life, Unreal, Dark Forces/Jedi Knight, Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, and on and on and on, I love them all. But Halo is my favorite. It's the series I most often come back to. Don't tell me it's average at best, because it's far above average.
As for your little history lesson, it's about as accurate as a blind biathlon marksman.
