Why don't the Japanese like Halo? It's so damn good, if they tried it they probably would love it.

considering how fast they adopted the last COD. i'd says so. but then again those sells mosltly went to PS3. and with Halo being on Xbox platforms.

well you know where i'm going with this.

OT: doesn't surprise me.

The Japanese really really REALLY don't like guns.

Funny how guns are in all their media, then, and they buy Call of Duty every year to the tune of half a million units (a number reached by a vanishingly small percentage of home console games these days).

For the same reason the west doesnt like games like dragon quest or the tales series, they all have different tastes

Then maybe the gamer population may have different tastes, but I still hold to the fact that they don't like guns.

Well I didn't know that I'd like JRPGs untill I gave FInal Fantasy a try and now I very much enjoy the genre. I also like anime and manga. If I can enjoy stuff from their culture I don't see why they can't enjoy stuff from our culture. Especialy when that stuff is as great as Halo. Halo even has a very anime feel to it and it's not as gritty as other shooters. It's full of color and isn't as serious or depressing. Of all the shooters out there I'd think Halo would appeal the most to the Japanese. I mean Master Chief looks like a green Gundam RX-78. But I'm no expert on culture.

Oh I wouldn't say that.

You might be better off asking BaldrSkies or somewhat in the Vita thread that knows a lot about Japan.

No it isn't Halo is at best average
You just don't know it better cause you probably never played really skill based shooters
Shooters in general aren't liked that much there.

Japan isn't racist - Apple is doing fine.
Every game they want is on the PS3 or other platforms they like and they only want those games at those platforms.
After this Gen they hate Microsoft probably even more cause on the beginning they were on a shopping tour and bought a lot of the games that forced some of them to buy a 360 just to see ~ a year later the same game 10 times better on the PS3.
And the Microsoft/360 is for many people the reason Final Fantasy had such a straight downfall in quality cause Wada is in love with the west.

Its either Karma or anything else but all this aggressive shopping on the exclusive list of Sony at the beginning of this Gen didn't help them at all.
It probably made everything even worse.
And the 360 had the advantage the PS3 was damn expensive and hard to develop for.Especially cause most J-Devs are poor and couldn't risk and afford the wait and transition over to the PS3.They had to take the offers.
Most J-Devs are for years now back at the Sony camp - Now it adds up the PS4 is easy to develop for and people get slowly the interest back at J-RPGs and stuff even outside of Japan.
Microsoft won't get anything except for maybe the bad(not the Nomura games) SquareEnix games and who cares for them? They will get worse and worse

SquareEnix is publishing and advertising Call of Duty in Japan as far as i know.
This helps a lot and is probably the reason it even sells there.Activision are marketing geniuses to pick SquareENix for their games and not trying to do it themself.

japanese gamers tend to be less open minded then us, which explains why the xbox never took off there.

plus halo never really stood a chance anyways, the 360's install base is far to low to do gangbuster sales, in the end. it's just japanese gamers refusing to support the 360.
