Unreal Tournament was the only ps2 fps game avaliable on launch. Let's take Halo CE for example

I think the real jump will be in physics
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

PS4 to PS3 gap > PS3 to PS2 gap
Epic said to me and I agree.
The first games for PS3/360 was in the same level or below the top games for PS2/XBOX... not the first games for PS3 are better than top PS3/360 games.
Edit - lol at the comments here... the gap is bigger.

And hopefully AI.
not as big on screenshots but as big when you play the game. on screenshots you don't recognize jaggies so much or bad shadows/lighting. on screenshots you see the details of a face but you don't see how the emotions look better with better tech. on screenshots you don't see if 30fps or 60fps makes a difference but you will recognize it when you play. next gen will be more a "play it to see it" and not so much a "look at the screen to see the improvements"
same with physics and hopefully a.i.

haha i don't believe that bolded part

Another problem is that we have been seeing "next gen" engines and what to expect for two years, some of the excitement has rubbed off for some/clouded their judgement. Its a massive jump. Also rumors are saying it was only using 1.5Gb vram. Holy shit if true. |
Exactly. Not that big of a jump for PS4, I think most agree here.
| curl-6 said: Certainly not; the PS2-PS3 jump may not have been on par with the SNES-to-N64 or N64-to-Gamecube generational leaps, but it was still far more visually noticeable and striking than the step up we're currently looking at. Apart from its phenomenal draw distance when showing the cityscape, Killzone Shadowfall looks similar to Halo 4. Granted, its an unfinished launch game, but the clear, striking distinction we've seen in most previous generational upgrades just isn't present. |
Kinda how I feel

Killzone PS2
Killzone 2 PS3
Killzone 3 PS3

Killzone Shadow Fall PS4
IMO it looks like Killzone 1 to Killzone 3 is equal to Killzone 3 to Killzone Shadow Fall. That is late PS2 to late PS3 graphical improvment, looking the same as late PS3 to pre launch PS4. This should be where we expected PS4 to look 5 years in, and we have in pre day one. This will be the same case with 360 if the rumors are true. These games already look this good pre launch, pre final specs, and we have not see all the big dogs show their hand. We still have Crytek, Naughty Dog, 343, Santa Monica, Turn 10, Polyphony, Dice, and many more left to show what they are doing.
One last thought. If it is true that devs were expecting 4GB, these PS4 games may even be low balling it. With devs seemingly having had access to 8GB + 32MB ESRAM on the XB3 for a while now, we may see even more impressive things when MS unviels it in the coming months or weeks.
Like I said in my last post, lets do this again after E3, and I'll also call for one post launch. I think many will have quite different opinions at that point in time.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66NX3OQCsTQ&list=UU6NhV2JOJr6pPGj1Q5m2eHg&index=29 X looks good, but so far it doesn't strike me as a next gen title. I will wait and see how it develops though.
EDIT
Also, the sceen shots you used for the purpose of comparison is misleading. You are comparing a photo of Killzone 3 to Killzone: Shadow Fall I presume? Killzone 3 which came out in 2011 - which is around 5 years into the PS3’s lifecycle –and it is being compared to an alpha build. Although still flawed, wouldn’t Killzone 2 be a better measure to display the jump?

Well I guess everyone percieves things differently, I didn't notice that texture pop in, but regardless that's still leaps and bounds ahead of the pop in I've experienced on 360/PS3 games, and the graphics still look significantly better.
To me X looked like a big jump from this gen and KZSF looked no better.
Also like you said, we're looking at X Alpha gameplay, that pop-in might not exist when the game is released.
As for my comparision of KZ3 to KZSF, I'm trying to emphasis a point. The Jump we see from KZ3 to Shadow Fall does exceed the capabilities of the PS3, but the jump isn't that huge as to us noticing much of a difference. From what I've seen the jump from KZ2 to KZ3 is nearly as big. My arguement is that PS4 games so far look like a continuation of PS3 games, meaning that early PS4 sequels do not look that much better then late PS3 entries.
Obviously late PS4 games will look better then late PS3 games, but on the same token they will only look slightly better then early PS4 games, which look slightly better then late PS3 games. We've reached the point in graphics where improvements are make in small increments. It's been like that for the past 7 years, and it looks like that might continue for the next 5 or 6.

There are no fade problems
Look Grass at the mouth of that dinosaur, that's a good 200 plus meters away, so I just showed you wrong.
If you're going to complain about the minor grass pop in shown in the above youtube link, then you're being nit picky. KZSF also shows a lot of blurryness when the guy climbs up the wall and starts to shoot over it. Don't think there is a FPS drop, but the resolution doesn't look as good as when the fire-fight first starts.
---
Anyway no point arguing, both games are in Alpha or pre-Alpha Stages. I don't expect you to agree with me that Wii U looks as good a PS4, that's your opinion, but don't completely disgard Wii U just because you personally feel (or want to believe) that PS4 is a clear cut level above it. Not everyone shares that opinion.
