Very much disagree, strong bias is what leads to fanboyism and flamebait regardless of whether or not the user is "aware" of such a bias.

Then I would have to disagree. Because I know where I stand, I take care to regulate my posts. I leave neutral posts alone and react to what I perceive as "attacks" on my faction.

However a heavily biased person that isn't even aware of it is far more likely to perceive any post as a provocation, where as I can see past those.

- Does your description of the community involve your favorite console's fans being innocent? Nobody is innocent. You have abnoxious people from all sides. This is when it comes down to how many abonxious members you have on each side, which is why i say sony wins that one.
If you answered yes to any of the above, then your view of the community probably isn't accurate. Yeah I didn't say yeah and as usual i disagree with you.

Here is my view. Forums are ridiculous and are filled with fanboys who act like a console is superior based off of opinions and false assumptions. Some people give facts but most of the time it is just opinions and people screaming theres is the only one that matters.

This thread isn't about condemning trolls, fanboys, or Sales2099. It is more directed at people with beliefs like Carl (though his behavior isn't a problem). It is about people who claim to know which fanbase has the greatest proportion of troublesome users. Of course during certain periods of time, certain fanbases will be more troubling than others depending on the news, as we've seen with the Vita and the Wii U.

But it's people who think (a) believe they can use their memory to accurately determine how much trolling there was in the past in relation to now, (b) believe their time spent in the two or three relevant sections of the site are equal enough to give their brain equal opportunity to catch trolling in each section, and believe that their method for detecting trolling isn't harmed at all by their bias.

People with these beliefs think they *know* that certain fans are just generally inherently worse people than others, regardless of their opportunity to troll. They tend to say things like "well A fans are just worse than B fans" rather than "I've noticed more A fans trolling than B fans trolling." And when asked how they know which fanbase trolled more, they might say something like, "because I remember silly! Think of all the A trolls. Now think of all the B trolls. The worse group is obvious. I trust that what I noticed, observed, and remembered is an accurate, comprehensive representation of the entire website."

This thread was inspired by a recent debate I saw between a well known Sony fan and a well known Nintendo fan. They were both arguing over which fanbase were the bigger trolls. The Sony fan said Nintendo fans attacked the Vita more, while the Nintendo fan claimed Sony fans attacked the Wii U more. Both people thought they somehow had an accurate view of what was going on. Neither of them bothered to think about the fact that they didn't spend an equal amount of time in the threads for the other console. Nor did they acknowledge that even if they entered in a similar amount of threads for both consoles, that they naturally wouldn't notice the attacks equally for both consoles.

That's why I made the thread talking about the similarities between the reactions of Sony fans and Nintendo fans with the Vita and Wii U. I was surprised to see how strikingly similar both fanbases reacted, but was more surprised that most people didn't acknowledge this and some continued to believe there was some intrinsic divide in personality based on console preference.
