Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Franchise Tier List (New Poll for Zelda tier)

Which Tier does Zelda belong in terms of sales? SS sold 4 million but HD Zelda on WiiU might sell more.

A-Tier 73 76.84%

B-Tier 20 21.05%

Total:93

Hopefully Pikmin 3 can be huge, very good franchise!

It's funny that Donkey Kong is in A tier just for a single game that did well. Previous games in the series before it did terrible, and now it's suddenly A-tier? It should be B tier until it can prove itself to consistently perform 5+ million.

Also, Zelda is all over the place. TP's combined sales are actually 8+ million right now, I think. Skyward Sword probably could have sold 5 million if it released in 2010 alongside Super Mario Galaxy 2, as long as the motion + didn't hinder it too much from consumers.

Mainline platformer Donkey Kong is a constant 5million+ seller. The 2010 one just proves that a Kong platformer is still relevant.

Again, the list is subject to changes and edits over time. Kinda why Zelda isn't at A.

Very interesting, and looking at the other platform holders tier lists, Nintendo's seems infinitely stronger. There is so much salespotential here. If Nintendo can step it up with their release scheadule for many of these titles on wiiu noone should (in theory) be able to stand against such onslaught.

Note that part of the reason Nintendo franchises have HUGE legs and sell extremely well is that they usually only release 1 major entry into the franchise with each console generation.

Like 3 GoW games on the 360, 3 Uncharted games.

But we only have 1 Super Mario Galaxy

Also look at how there are 2 GT games on the PS3 (Looking to be 3 GT games)

But only 1 MKWii

We actually had two Mario Galaxies.

Mario Strikers is missing, it should be B-C tier.

No Mario Tennis and Mario Golf too, probably C tier.

Are the Mother/Earthbound and Wave Race series considered dead?

Ah. Oh right.

Ok USUALLY we only have 1 Major entry per Franchise per console generation.

It's all part of making sure there's no oversaturation and keeping these franchises "fresh"

I'll add the golf and tennis series as "Mario Sports"

Strikers is pretty much dead, there isn't looking to be a new one and neither are many people asking for it it would have been placed under Mario sports anyways.

Mother is dead. Wave race? I'll look into that.

I might just rearrange them within the tiers themselves too.

Looking to be quite some work.
