If you think the PS4 is going to be clearly superior technically to the next XBox, can you explain where you think it is going to dwarf the next XBox?  In short, why do you think the PS4 is going to outclass the next XBox technically?

it certainly won't "dwarf" the next xbox but it will have a substantial advantage when it comes to RAM at least, unless Microsoft can switch the GDDR5 (not sure if that's possible at this stage).

Dwarf? No. But rumoured specs show PS4 with a marginally better GPU and better RAM choice, and an identical CPU. 

PS4 rumours ended up being accurate enough that I can assume the DuranDuran rumours are fairly close to reality. 

No, but it might be slightly better. I give it a 5%-10% advantage to PS4 hardware wise (of course that number is completely pulled out of thin air)

Sony raised the ram to 8GB GDDR5. They aren't stupid so it's pretty obvious the other specs will be heavily customized to match this power. Otherwise why increase it?

720 on the other hand looks to be focused on other things. It's rumored specs are somewhat similar to PS4 but no way will they try to pump it up.

Sony doubled their RAM. That's expensive. Why would they do that. The only reason would be to offset some other advantage they're spies found out about the Nextbox. It's far too early and I don't like rumors, but Sony wouldn't all of a sudden decide to spend that kind of money on each PS4 unless the Nextbox has something going on under the hood that they felt they needed to respond to.

heres what i know. sony never had 8 gigs of ram. the benefit of going with pcish architecture. but just the mere fact of stating they have 8gb of gddr5 memory will have microsoft scrambling for something comparable in a short time. sony is playing a game hoping for another equivalent of a rush to market hardware failure again. 4gddr5 vs 8ggr3 wasnt a big deal but pound for pound gb for gb it will be the 360 ps3 again. while the 360 had the better graphical capabilities it lack the massive storage capacity of bluray that ps3 had. nobody knows what the finalspecs will be for either but who cares... bring on the games. a hater will hate a gamer dont give a

It won't dwarf the NextBox's specs by any means but I do feel like the PS4 will still be stronger than the NextBox.

The rumors specs says so... the rumors specs for PS3 was 100% right... so why the rumors specs for Nextbox will be different?

Could be or just that they felt that they were neck and neck in terms of specs (which is my prediction) and decided to up the ante so it can have the more powerful console. @OP: I think that its gonna be pretty close, only difference being that PS4 will have GDDR5.

Edit: If the rumored 1gb - 1.5gb of RAM dedicated solely to the OS for the Nextbox is accurate, could possibly make the difference a little more noticeable. Still, don't expect a big difference at all.
