It looks quite good. Slightly worse than whatever the PS4 has, of course.

Slightly? LOL Nowhere close.

Compared to what Sony showed at their event, KillZone only looks somewhat better than this. (More effects like better reflection and particles. Other than that, not much is different, in my opinion.)

Please watch this video. It makes even Crysis 3 look just ok. It looks like you're walking through a cinematic.

I've seen people make this statement in the last couple of days - some going as far as saying Killzone SF "blows away" Crysis 3 PC on ultra settings.  I think people need to come back to reality here.

Killzone looks good.  Great, in fact - particularly the beginning where the entire city is visible.  The geometry, draw distance, reflections -  all look spectaular.  It's one of the best looking things I've seen.  Even the part before the explosion is just gorgeous.  It has a really nice style to it.  However, compare Killzone (I embedded the video above) where the firefight actually begins to the gameplay portions of the Crysis 3 vids below.  That's where Killzone and its 30fps begins to show its "limitations".  Don't get me wrong - it already looks great and should look even better when it comes out.  And for a launch game, it's spectacular.  But Crysis 3 on a high-end PC - even though I may not like the style as much - trumps it in the end when it comes to performance IMO.  The fast, silky-smooth frame rate adds so much to the overall visual fidelity.

I never said anything about PC ultra settings. The only thing I ever said about PC was that my laptop is I5 and plays Crysis 2 better. I am talking about consoles here. Technically PC's have been "next gen" for a little while now. I am of course speaking figuratively, because we all know PC's dont have gens.

Around the Network

@OP: I take your point. If the WiiU can pull off those kind of graphics, I'll be more than satisfied.

Plus I'm not one of those people that get hung up on the subtle differences in graphical leaps. For me it either blows it away, or it doesn't. Like asking me what sounds better a $300 speaker or a $600 one - I really don't care, as long as they both play good sound.

It also doesn't bother me about which has more particle effects, more bump mapping, and all that stuff - and I'm sure a lot of gamers wouldn't care either, To me it either looks good or it doesn't, and as far as I can tell from the videos posted in this thread, WiiU games will look better than good.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

I know it wasn't you who said that specifically; I've seen others say this though - not just that Killzone looks better but that it "blows away Cysis 3 on ultra settings".  Everyone is entitled to their opinion but that's a bit silly, IMHO.

Saying it makes Crysis 3 look just ok from a style/artistic standpoint I can get behind, but from a performance standpoint I disagree... regarding what Crysis 3 is capable of running at.

But I am not trying to downplay the PS4's specs, as I'm happy with what the console is packing.  Anyway, we're off topic here.

If WiiU's GPU is 320SP part (5550 equivalent), it's quite probable it can pull that visuals. To be fair, that 5550 DDR3 in second video (1st one is GDDR5 card, with some 25% better performance than DDR3 version) is 128bit bus card, with double the bandwidth of WiiU (which in case of that specific card reduces performance by 25% when it runs with only 12.8GB/s), and CPU in that video is at least some 3-4x as powerful.

Still, if carefully optimized I believe it's most likely possible.
