Forums - Nintendo - WiiU can do at least this - Crysis 2 1440x900 on HD5550

You're also forgetting that this is a Crytek game, who are known for technical wizardry.

You're forgetting that this is not optimized specifically for the GPU & hardware as it would be in a good console port. If Nintendo can give the same level of support to other devs as they did to Criterion, we should see some very nice looking games going forward.

Looks nice, but in the wake of PS4 and nextbox it's not that impressive.

After seeing my friend's dual 7970 crossfire rig, the PS4 is not that 'impressive', so what's your point? I'm not saying it's going to have mind numbing graphics, but that it will look nice enough for the average consumer on an average HDTV (especially for the price), and we won't be looking at a Wii-PS3 situation.

PS4 isnt a PC. Its specs are closed and not up for a reveal. If a console gamer wants a PC they need only buy them. Crysis is best shown on a PC. Much like other console titles show me a console exclusive game made exclusively for that console.

The point is really this - modern games are scalable, so a multiplat game may run on Ultra High at a crazy resolution on a PC, High @1080P on PS4/Nextbox, and Medium @720P on the U.

THat's what I've been preaching. THey all share similar architectures (GPU heavy) and have the same capabilities in terms of technologies.

Biggest hurdle at this point will be WiiUs 1GB RAM for games as compared to 5GBs to 7GBs of RAM the PS4 and neXtBox will have for games. Hopefully that scales nicely as well.

I would wager that they'll eventually free up some OS RAM and get it up to 1.5GB available for games. Just bumping a PC game from ultra to mid settings can drastically alter the amount of RAM needed, so I'm sure most games will scale fine. I'm guessing exclusives will be the games really pushing PS4 to the limit anyway, and there's no real need to scale those games (obviously).

C'mon man, a few demos of the PS4 and you are already drawing comparisons. Don't you think it's a bit early? Why oh why does it always come back to the silly PC vs console argument.

We are talking consoles. Can we not keep it there?

The game looks good when measured up against this gens consoles.

PS4's architecture is actually very similar to a PC. My point isn't to say WiiU is able to put out mind-blowing graphics, but that it will be just fine as far as the average consumer is concerned. I'm not sure we are even disagreeing here.

It looks quite good. Slightly worse than whatever the PS4 has, of course.

Showing Crysis on Nintendo (yes, as weird as that sounds) isnt going to win over anyone though. PS4 will be surpassed by PC because they arent the same and the hardware stays the same for the duration of their time. Devs make the best of those specs with the newest games where PC waits for multiplats that by now are inferior to their specs and seem dumbed down. If you want to play games consoles are now the premeire for the most anticipated games. If you want to impress people with Nintendo show their main characters with HD graphics.

Watch dogs and rainbow six these 2 games will show where wiiu stands.
