I could see MS following the PC model of requiring key codes with hard copy purchases. It's not really gonna stop Xbox fans from buying the system, but it will put a large dent in their userbase for the more informed consumer. I'm glad Sony isn't adding game registration as a requirement, and I hope publishers follow this example instead of possibly alienating their consumers.
I'm the result of someone exclusively playing Final Fantasy XI from the PS2 release till 2010, and only stopping for small bouts of catch up.
