Forums - Nintendo - Sony steps on Nintendo’s toes with remote play to Vita

Why is it a copy? Remote play existed even on PSP. Now it is only being implemented correctly. I used it on PS3 sometimes, but the lack of campatible games is a killer problem. But it was nice to keep and eye at downloads on PS3, but wasn't a killer feature.

If they make every PS4 game compatible, or at least most of them, it will be more interesting. But I won't use it a lot anyway. Why I will play gorgeous PS4 games on a 5' screen if I have a 40' one? And that TV is only for gaming, so its always available. When I can't play there for some reason, I play Vita games. I'm more interested in the companion app to access extra content in the games using Vita or my tablet. That is a killer feature. But, if Gaikai allow me to play remote games on Vita using the Internet, now that is a killer feature.

The idea .

Really reaching on that one huh? You even say why it's not "copying the Wii U" right in the OP and then hope people will ignore it. XD

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

:D

"Remote play has existed since the days of the PSP"

"It’s interesting to see one of Nintendo’s competitor’s copy Nintendo so blatantly"

You should consider gaming journalism, this sort of non sequitur writing is very popular in the industry.

Starting off with it from the start is a huge leap ahead of the Vita/PS3 remote play.

But the price difference between PS4/Vita to the Wii U will be huge.

It seems expensive if you're only looking at it for remote play, but the fact is you'll be a getting a really nice portable gaming machine with its own library of games that you can use for other reasons. I own a Wii U and from what I understand you can't take its gamepad miles away from the console and play games with it. It's amazing value if you look at it: You get a home console, a portable console, and remote play between them.

I fail to see how this is particularly bad news for Nintendo, or how it's good news for Sony. It's a neat feature, sure, but a "Future of PlayStation" event spoke about Vita only in a supporting role to PS4, not as a system in its own right. If that's the direction Sony are taking, I think it's a poor one--the market for an expensive peripheral that adds some optional extras to your home console is not a huge one, not least when you can get the PlayStation App for the smartphone or tablet many punters will already own. If Sony spent more time showing people what Vita can do on its own, what great games it can have, and not arsing around with it as a gamepad rival, then Vita would be in a much healthier position forward--and in a much better position to actually be in widespread use alongside PS4.

But then again, this is a ludicrously poor article.

Sorry but what did you smoke? Copying? Sony did remote 7 years ago with PSP and you think it is a copy lol lol lol

Nintendo did it even earlier with GC and Cube, but who's counting.

Remote play has been around for like 7 years. Sony probably has put more focus on it because of the Wii U though.

The OP is not entirely correct.

The main draw of Wii U isn't off-screen play, but asymmetric play - like what you see in Zombi U. The PS4/Vita combo won't do much of that. There may be a few games, but not many. It would mean that devs would have to limit their software to a very niche market (those who own and PS4 *and* have a Vita). With budgets ballooning next gen, it's too big of a gamble to require the Vita for a PS4 game.

So yes, off-screen play is something the PS4/Vita combo will do and that's a great bonus. The biggest drawbacks of this is the total cost of the package and the Vita being relegated to PS4 peripheral. But it's a neat feature nonetheless.

Nine years actually, assuming Four Swords Adventures was the first game to do it.

Another blatant copy. Sony probably went crazy about the idea when they saw the incredible hardware sale the Wii U is experiencing, can't blame them for that, can you?

A bit below the belt perhaps but OP makes the most one-sided, asinine threads I've seen in here for a long time. Are you secretly Avinash returned with all pretence dropped? Comical Ali got nothing on you.
