I still buy movies on DVD instead of Blu-Ray so I don't see myself upgrading to 4K anytime soon.

WTF : you living in the dark ages.

Probably best to go to a ps1 thread if there are any still around

I do also didn't see the need to change, still really don't see the need to change other then BD is the next new shiny tech, I may totally skip BD and go digital because that the next thing.

I don't own a BR player, but I refuse to watch movies in SD. It's horrid. Simply horrid.

OT: I've always expected PS4 to output 4k, but I still think that there's no way it's gonna be playing games at that res.

4k for Vids and Pics, not for games. Read the article people.

SD and most if not all streaming(sub standard compressed picture dolby digital at best mostly 2.0) is barbaric

We won't see it in games.

The movie is still the same. As long as it's not VHS quality with lines running through the screen, I'm good.

Signature goes here!

I doubt many people have TVs that can output 4k and it's going to take a while before they become affordable for the average consumer.

I doubt there will ever be many people who own 4k-TVs as they make only sense with very big TVs which most people don't have enough space for, otherwise you won't see much a difference. I think it will even get less acceptance than 3d.

Isn't resolution also dependent on the physical media? The blu-ray release of Lawrence of Arabia supposedly supports 4k resolution, so couldn't any blu-ray player output that in 4k?
