Well if I ever get a 4K tv when they are affordable I will look forward to 4K movies and 4K 2D games.

The GPU used in PS4 is supposed to have 32ROPs... that's enough for 4k output... I don't see the big thing here because that's already knewn before.

Sony will push 4k ever if just for marketing.

Another way to significantly ramp up development costs on already big budget games. Although given the current market penetration of 4k screen its unlikely that many games (if any at all) will actually be released that support 4k resolution until very late in the generation (similar to how 3D games weren't released until 2011, 6 years into this generation).

Plus, with the added cost, expect publishers to introduce more ways to get cash from you in addition to the season/online passes and micro-transactions.
