Would you guys please stop combining PS3 and Xbox360 sales ONLY when it goes against the Wii. In so many threads you have a massive flamewar with PS3 sales vs Xbox360 sales, but as soon as it goes against the Wii the sales suddenly are combined :/

Face it: PS3 and Xbox360 failed to outsell the Wii.

Ps3 and 360 sales are seperate in those threads because they are direct competition fighting over the same demographic and section of the market. They are basically going head to head. Throw the Wii into the mix then you have 2 systems going for the same market vs a system that went off and did it's own thing. It makes perfect sense to compare side by side the ps360 to the Wii. Sorry you can't accept the fact that the market the wii went after burnt out so much quicker than the market ps360 went and are going after

Who says that? I'm fully aware the casuals are gone, my only point was that neither of them individually managed to reach the Wii's sales yet.

They will both claw their way up to it though. And being that the ps360 were fighting over the same consumer when we are talking about purchasing power of demographics those need to be included together. Think about it. If the pswii released very similarly and ps3 was underpowered with motion gaming then 360 would have all of the 150mil market to themselves while pswii would fight over the 100mil.

Anyway, point is the most innovation between the two is cross game chat and online play. Those two things were praised for increasing gameplay... yet supposidly the social features announced for the ps4 are "same ol' same ol'" yet, the ps360, comparatively, were in the exact same situation concerning gameplay and has shown that's what the market wants by grabing 60% of it and will most likely end up with close to 70%. Another piece of evidence that supports this claim is the markets response to the wii u.

WiiU specifically because the graphics on PS4 show no real leap over PS3. At least WiiU is different.

Not sure if serious

THOR!

He means that the PS4 sequels shown don't look like that dramatic of a graphical leap over PS3 games, where Wii U games looks leaps and hurdles better then Wii Games. Hence games like XenoBlade 2, while still a sequel, will be "Fresher" where PS4 sequels will be pretty more more of the same. Metroid, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart will all feel like very different games where GT6, InFamous and Uncharted might feel a lot like their PS3 counterparts.

With that said, and sequels being pretty much more of the same..... I'm worried about Microsoft LOL. How long can they rely on Halo and Forza?

That simply isn't true though. Nothing this gen has come close at all. And this is a launch game. Also, Mario U is not a large leap over Mario Wii...X will be, sure, but that game won't be coming out anytime soon.

Seems like a lot of wasted polygons since this isnt a sandbox game, dont ya think?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Wii U for two reasons:
1. I can actually buy it now, and I could actually afford it in the near future.
2. X is going to be the greatest game I've ever played.

PS4 still has a shot for two more reasons:
1. Sony might have content that interests me early on, as opposed to the early years of PS3.
2. I like Sucker Punch. I hope that inFamous: Second Son will justify PS4's power for fun, open-world, super-powered gameplay purposes. Because most of what Sony showed just doesn't cut it. :/

Or that the developer is not prioritizing well.

But for all I know, the new Killzone game might actually revolutionize linear cover-based shooting.

Sounds like you didn't watch or read a summary...

Instantly play digital games
Sleep mode
Use tablets, Vita to display maps and other things. Vita can play PS4 games on the go.
Backwards compatibility through the cloud
Records everything you play - upload while you play
Broadcast your gameplay - your friends can watch you playing live and help you out
Easier to develop for - this is a huge plus, since PS3 was notoriously hard to develop for.
8GB RAM - no more OS limitations. Expect everything you'll ever need from the OS
Try any digital game instantly (Gaikai)
etc. etc.

Couldn't watch but did read up on it.

To all of those things - so what?  Yes the hardware and OS are better but it's all about the gameplay.  And I'd think some of those things could have been done on PS3 if they really wanted too through OS update.   There's some cool features but really, not enough to justify shelling out cash for a new console.

Obviously it's all about the gameplay but gaming is also so much more. What would justify a purchase? A Mario game on PS4?

A system that offers something that creates exciting new gameplay opportunites that the current gen simply can't.  I don't see PS4 doing this.
Nor WiiU despite it's touch-screen controller (which has yet to prove itself as an enhancement).

Mario didn't sell me on WiiU, I don't see why he'd sell me on PS4.

You're forgetting about move and, especially, Kinect.

This a trick question?
