Would you guys please stop combining PS3 and Xbox360 sales ONLY when it goes against the Wii. In so many threads you have a massive flamewar with PS3 sales vs Xbox360 sales, but as soon as it goes against the Wii the sales suddenly are combined :/
Face it: PS3 and Xbox360 failed to outsell the Wii.

Ps3 and 360 sales are seperate in those threads because they are direct competition fighting over the same demographic and section of the market. They are basically going head to head. Throw the Wii into the mix then you have 2 systems going for the same market vs a system that went off and did it's own thing. It makes perfect sense to compare side by side the ps360 to the Wii. Sorry you can't accept the fact that the market the wii went after burnt out so much quicker than the market ps360 went and are going after

Who says that? I'm fully aware the casuals are gone, my only point was that neither of them individually managed to reach the Wii's sales yet.

They will both claw their way up to it though. And being that the ps360 were fighting over the same consumer when we are talking about purchasing power of demographics those need to be included together. Think about it. If the pswii released very similarly and ps3 was underpowered with motion gaming then 360 would have all of the 150mil market to themselves while pswii would fight over the 100mil.
Anyway, point is the most innovation between the two is cross game chat and online play. Those two things were praised for increasing gameplay... yet supposidly the social features announced for the ps4 are "same ol' same ol'" yet, the ps360, comparatively, were in the exact same situation concerning gameplay and has shown that's what the market wants by grabing 60% of it and will most likely end up with close to 70%. Another piece of evidence that supports this claim is the markets response to the wii u.

You're forgetting about move and, especially, Kinect.
