Forums - Sony - Was anybody else underwhelmed by the PS4 event?

No, I expected less. They showed new IPs. What I asked for. Sequels to exclusives I play. A fairly similar controller to the duel shock with new options for gaming. They gave the real data on the machines power and talked about gaiki.

And given what I see of your posts Jaywood I would be shocked if you were actually impressed.

Now that wasn't nice lol

It's late or I'd go into this further but after them hyping it like no tomorrow and talking trash about competitors I was at least expecting them to show the PS4 -_-

*Shrugs* well, I think it was done to get the fact it is coming this year out. Give a lot of info and still leave plenty for E3. They could never reveal all and leave nothing for E3. In all, though what the console does is more important than what it looks like. I think Nintendo was similar in that the consoles look and price were not released right away. There is obviously a strategy in this.

PS4 looks fine. Pretty cool i must say, but as I said on a previous thread, there needs to be either a New Uncharted, Versus XIII or somthing similar to make me buy it full price.

i was underwhelmed. I had to quite because it got really boring. So basically we have a ps3 with cloud integration and better graphics.

Pretty much sums it up. The only interesting thing was the cloud streaming service, but they hardly wanted to talk about it.

I was honestly hoping that Sony was getting desperate enough as a company to do something daring. All they're doing is adding even more PC into the mix.

But hey, looks like that's exactly what third parties want, so... Yay?

What exactly would be daring to you? And what could they possibly do, daringly, that would add more to gaming than what they are already going to do?

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

Underwhelmed? Absolutely not. It was exactly what I expected, Sony setting the bar high for consumers and the industry by showing they are the innovative ones when it comes to entertainment fused with gaming.

I disagree. Square-Enix expectedly disappointed.

At least they sent their very best English speakers, along with Capcom.

It got really boring after half an hour. Games looked fantastic though, but I'm not too excited by it other than its great graphics. Also, the thing where one of your friends can join into the game and play for you was kinda cool.

Didn't you warned us to have low expectation anyway? I am so surprised........

LOL, the thing I was wonderingis if your friend beats it from their console then would you get the trophy. interested how they play that out

Im not saying it was bad but I didnt really get excited either>  I'll go more into detail after I workout.  But I didn't really get that excited about anything they showed.  Watchdogs looks great though.  Killzone is beautiful.  But beyond that I was a little let down. And i did like the share button on the controller.  That could turn out to be pretty cool for recording games.

My thoughts pretty much echo yours except that I was more than a little let down and I couldn't care less about the share button. Watchdogs stole the show for me and Killzone, while uninteresting to me, at least got me excited for what Uncharted and God of War will look like.

All the social stuff is wasted on me personally - I just want to play great games; and therein lies the problem for me at the moment. With the PS3, we saw footage of Uncharted and knew about MGS4 before it launched. While I chose to wait for a price drop, I was excited about it (plus, I wanted a blu-ray player). This conference did nothing to get me onboard for the PS4 at launch or probably anytime in the near future. Maybe Sony will surprise me at E3.

I just felt, it was a waste of hype to show engines and games that don't really seem like next gen (at least what people were expecting to see as next gen?). The general consensus during the stream was, "this is so much like PS3." and "omg more generic games". Granted, they could be from Nintendo/Microsoft fans but it's still pretty indicative of how things might be this gen. The graphical jump seems like it won't be too drastic until devs really dig into the hardware but the hardware is really good.

Hopefully, Sony can pull a 180 at E3 because they have good hardware doing pretty cool things. They just need the software now to back it up (and throw some bones at Vita so, this can benefit twice as much).
