Well wasn't the 360 announced in May '05 and released in November '05?

They've got a ways to go yet before anyone needs to be worried.

I think people are putting far too much faith in who shows their cards first. A good console with a great launch lineup will do more than the order of the consoles being revealed.

Microsoft most likely had a few scenarios mapped out. Like what they would do if Sony decided to wait and what they would do if Sony went first.

Sony needs to be careful at what they announce at this event because Microsoft can adjust (at least try to) prices and release dates depending on what Sony does. I still think Sony will release in November and Microsoft will go in September. Microsoft will have a 2 month jump on games like GTA and Splinter Cell on the next Xbox.

Every new rumor that we hear about the next XBox is making me less and less excited about it. My hype has gone from zero to negative 233.

My mate who works in Microsoft said the xbox division went on complete lock down last week, so expect something very soon

Oh yeah its coming soon.  From what Ive heard the entire Xbox division has almost been impossible to get into for almost a year.  Apparently even if your a MS employee you need rediculous levels of clearance to even get through the doors.  Hopefully an announcement from MS is imminent

Hype is overrated on internet forums.

IMO Sony's announcement is rushed, unless they are aiming for a Summer/Fall release. They might be pushed by an uncomfortable financial situation, and the performance of PSV. MS' position is better, and they can afford to wait, and it may be even better for them. There are still 3.5 more months to E3, plenty of time.

I think people are too focused on when each announces it. It is more important that each has a great launch than when they announce each. They need the announcements to have good information but as far as when that really doesnt matter.

I lways felt that Sony is going now because of how bad their company is doing. They are trying to get people to come back to the company reinvest in it. We will see what happens.
