Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Office 365 is beating Google Apps.

Hey guys,

There have been a couple of posts here and there saying that MS might lose its Office / cloud business to Google. Okay, Dallas was the one posting them. I would like to highlight some of the bigger deals that just happened with MS and Office 365 which is the direct competition to Google Apps.

Microsoft secured the state of Texas as a customer with over 100k employees.

County of Santa Clara was a nice little win, because this is where Google has their homebase. 15k users will work with Office 365 now.

HP works with the Department of US Veterans Affairs and uses Microsoft cloud solutions. 600k employees will work with Microsoft online-software.

Toyota picked Microsoft software over Google and IBM for 200k users. In addition Toyota cars will use MS software as well. The in-vehicle software runs on Windows Azure and the navigation systems will use Bing Maps.

The Environmental Protection Agency will use Office 365 for all of the 25k employees.

I really think that Office 365 might be a great success for Microsoft. They are really successful in the enterprise market and Windows 8 sales might benefit from this as well.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

Google has no chance when it comes to business.

1b people use Office and now with Skydrive integration will get bigger.

Barely anyone knows Google docs or Google Drive, lets admit it the most things people know about Google is their Search Engine, Their e-mail Service and Android. And most people dont even Know Android is from Google lol

Not downplaying Google but they have a long way to go with their "Office" although is much better than the trash that Open or Libre OFfice are.

Obviously

Very eye opening.

My friend:

'duh.

Did anyone really thin Google was a threat to Microsoft in this regard?

Duh. No way anyone would ever beat office, too many applications depend on it.

Considering nearly all business use MSOffice to begin with, idk why anyone would claim googledocs was going to quickly catch up and take away that market?

Hell, I've only ever said its really good for home/school use. Though many businesses could easily just use GDocs, large corps and what not almost certainly could not. At least not exclusively.

It will be many years still until GDocs or any other office suite could really topple MS in the corporate arena.

Yes, many IT people thought and some wanted, Google to crush and kill Microsoft in the Office division.  (There are Google Fanboy's that are much like the ones on here where they follow their chosen company with unquestioned devotion, like a religion.)

I remember when Word Perfect had the huge monopoly over everything.  It was only in the last decade that it finally ended for them.  I think it is for the best, as the guy who developed Word Perfect is an awful family destroying person.

But Microsoft seems to thrive on competition.  So we all get a better product because Google is pushing them.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Agreed.

Competition is good, now MS just needs to make Bing Portugal not be a beta and got the servies of US counterpart and we will be good.
