Although it says like 28.9 million on the front page, Kotaku has announced that Nintendo says that the 3DS has sold 30 million of those "little buggers." (http://kotaku.com/5984276/dont-look-now-but-the-3ds-has-become-the-best-gaming-machine-out-there) I have to say, congratulations Nintendo! Quite a milestone, yet another hit. And, if it wasn't for that unfortunate drought of games during it's early months, and it was priced at an affordable price back then, the 3DS would have sold more than the DS now. :D With Pokemon X and Y coming out, and a ton of other kool games, this is looking to be the 3DS' biggest year YET. You have my word.

Shipped, so that's possible. Means there's around 8 weeks supply on shelves.

Nintendo reports shipped numbers, everyone does that. For them, its effectively a sale when it leaves their direct ownership and goes into freight, storage and retail.

Still, its been doing well. It'll be exciting to see how it holds up against the growing tablet/phone market in a couple of years, I suspect the demise of classic handheld devices is closer than most would think.

that 1.3 billion is looking more likely to happen the coming fiscal year ^-^

this is not including the big games coming for WiiU!

yeh so many doom threads! and what about all the investors suggesting they port their games on apple products and shit. 

It's a joke how everyone doomed this console when it first came out. Honestly it's the successor to the DS, the most successful console ever. Of course people were gonna buy once it got some good games. And it still doesn't have a real Pokemon or Zelda. Only spinoffs/remakes. I'd say the sells will be about 100 Million when's it's through.
