Forums - Nintendo - Gamasutra: At 57K sold, Wii U's January performance is historically abysmal

To the guy who said the Wii U didn't even sell 1 million yet: Wrong
To the guy who said the Wii U will be Nintendo's worst selling console yet: It already surpassed the Virtual Boy. Don't get your hopes up.
To everyone else: I predict the Wii U will see a spike in sales and maintain its sales within 12 months.

Right... Wii U sold only 942k in US... you can spin what you want but the truth is that.
Right... Virtual Boy is not a console... for Wii U is in a battle for the worst selling console with GC (Wii, N64, SNES and NES did better than Wii U and GC).

Sorry but you clains are all wrong.

No, my claims aren't wrong.  Saying the Wii U didn't even sell 1 million yet, and then saying "I meant in the United States" doesn't count, because Nintendo's market extends further than just the United States.

The Virtual Boy was definitely a console, claiming it isn't is incorrect.  The debate over the definition of "console" is pointless because handhelds are also considered consoles.  Even if we don't count any handhelds + the Virtual Boy, the Wii U is still doing well enough to warrant that it will do better than the Gamecube.  I will bet on it that the Wii U will surpass the Gamecube.

So no, my claims are not wrong.  You are wrong in saying my claims are wrong.

This thread is about the NPD numbers which are US sales.  Hence discussion will be about sales in the United States.

It doesn't change the fact that Soundwave said that the Wii U didn't even sell 1 million yet, and he has been wrong about Wii U sales before in other areas.  It's best to put in the fact you are talking about US sales specifically in your post if you're only going to say "Wii U didn't even sell 1 million yet."

Like I said before the biggest threat for WiiU is 360 and PS3. They have to stray away from PS3 and 360. Nobody will buy a WiiU for games that will also release on these 2. They need more exclusive titles that will let people take a look at WiiU. These games should properly use that tablet and we might see WiiU selling.
