Forums - Nintendo - Criterion Commentary on Need for Speed U - WiiU is 'very powerful'

We know how powerful it is. The time for these vague PR comments is over.
I'll wait for the Digital Foundry comparisons.

Even as an uncle who spends lots of time with his nephews, I'm not entirely convinced by the Gamepad features. Even if you can disrupt cops and remove traffic, the biggest problem remains, namely the buildings and stuff. Dunno, could use a noclip function AKA "Big Rigs mode". OK, maybe not. Or why not allow the other player to completely take over controls in dire situations, like in a driving school? They could have taken it much further.

Nice to see about the graphics and performance, and the general enthusiasm of this dev.

Game hasn't shipped yet so these preliminary comparisons. Anyway it seems like they really tried with this Wii U version. Was it really worth it? I'm really curious to see if this game sells well on Wii U. It's already on all the other platforms so I wonder what is the sales target for this game for it to be profitable?

Man with the gamepad I wanna see two player co-op type game style. One where the driver uses the gamepad, and second player with the wii mote as a passenger. Second player could Hang out the window shooting out the tires of other cars or cops, using a baseball bat (wii sports style) taking out mail boxes or other childish destruction ;). Hacking into the department of traffic to access the traffic light grids, scanners, radar detectors etc.
then again maybe these would be better off in a GTA type of game. honestly duel screens could open a whole type of co op style games. Either on wii u or not.

Yup, lots of damage control. mostly people saying that the crapy ports are due to lazy developers...lots of damage control all right.

Developers should just shut their mouths and let their games do the talking. Not crapping on the Wii U, but I'm not gonna jump in if the difference from the PS360 is just slightly better when the Nextbox and PS4 will be marginally better. Expect another round of PS4/Nextbox and Wii U games segregation.
