Forums - Nintendo - Criterion Commentary on Need for Speed U - WiiU is 'very powerful'

http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/02/13/need-for-speed-most-wanted-wii-u-developer-commentary

Good commentary from the developer. He not only states that the WiiU is 'a very powerful piece of hardware', but also says the game is 'by far' the best looking version released and was able to use the textures/assets from the high-end PC game. The in-game footage certainly looks good. I'm glad to see a 3rd party is actually working to get the most out of the hardware!

To the trolls: Not trying to say the hardware is near as powerful as the PS4/Nextbox will be, but this developer seems to think it's a pretty good piece of tech.

March is going to be a decent month for the Wii U from the look of IGN's upcoming game schedule.

LEGO City alone would be enough; Monster Hunter just sweetens the deal.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Based on PC version of game
Took a break after 360 etc. version was done- came back with a small Wii U team- more RAM in the Wii U -> PC textures and assets – lighting and draw distances better
Criterion read Iwata Asks of shared experiences and philosophy of Wii U
Miiverse support with Autolog
Wii U demo up Eshop
God Mode Wii U GamePad (drifting, getting stuck, make it easier in police chases/change from day to-night at tap game pad)
Off TV Play
Mii support in-game (mii appearing on billboards)
(Wii mote/nunchuck/wheel support/pro controller already confirmed months ago)
Started after break in September 2012 from other versions, due to finish in few weeks with minor fixes
Due end of March

Thanks, Nintedward

Good to see Criterion is taking the time to make a good port...

However the game is destined to fail because it's been available for a year on other platforms, and that will become a justification to not do other Wii U projects...

The Croods and The Walking dead as well it seems. So 5-6 games from what I see! Not too bad. Big change from January and this month.

3DSis having a good month this month already. I feel they will be big though, for the rest of the year. That is from another thread.

I don't have any faith in either of those two games being either good or selling well at all. But I guess every little helps, right?

Perhaps March will bring Luigi's Mansion and Animal Crossing as well; release them to create room for Pikmin's launch.

Lighting, textures, draw distance, reflection effects, models all appear to be better based on playing the 360 version (much closer to the PC version). Particularly the reflection effect on the road, this looks much more realistic, I thought it looked overly 'shiny' on the 360.
